We had trouble accessing MyBB for a few minutes, I think it may have been offline. :(

When I noticed the US flag in my browser address bar I immediately tried other international sites. Couldn't load any of it. No Reddit, international news sites, Twitch etc. Anyway, working now.

What browser do you have that does that?

nah sorted lol.. things are okay on the Telkom front at least

cool, you should say "for now at least"...with telkom its is a "fingers crossed hope I get the service I paid for, or hope my line does not get stolen tonight" situation :D LMFAO...

Hi

What should the line sync rate be on a 8Mbps? I am currently syncing at 7168kbps/768kbps ( G.DMT) or 7168kbps/760kbps (ADSL2+).
Line stats

Code:
wan adsl c =>

Wrong thread mate.

Why?
My line is with Afrihost and I want to know if the 8Mbps product actually means 7Mbps download with 1Mbps of unseen overhead or does Afrihost mean 8Mbps as in download plus upload rounds up to 8Mbps or do I need to open a support ticket Afrihost and hope they can get Telkom to fix this?

It should be 8192, phone AH and ask them to set your profile to 8meg, you are paying for 8meg right?

Stats are very good, leave your dsl modulation on auto and don't force gdmt or adsl2+

On an 8Mbps line, you should see the line sync at 8192Kbps.

If the line is on 7Mbps it may be that ASSIA temporarily dropped the sync and ensure that your line remains stable. Did you notice any disconnections or slow throughput on your connection?

Hi :)

I can assure you that there are no general issues coming in from our end.
Any large download will take some time on a 2Mbps line though - can you share a link so I can see if the issue can be replicated from my end?

Hi AG,

I have been downloading for a few years now, so yes, I do understand that huge files will take some time to download. However, shortly after AH fixed their systems and had the "new" network working like a bomb, I reached fairly high data downloads (and then even on days when I do not run my downloads all day - i.e. 24Hrs).

March.JPG september.JPG

With downloading directly from Blizzard (downloading WoW file) all day yesterday, I merely get 8.6 Gigs.

April.JPG

At this rate it will take me near on 4 days to download this 31 Gig file, where two months ago, it would have taken me two days. Nothing has changed on my side - same PC, same Telkom ADSL line and same router. Via Blizzard's info I only manage a download speed of 1 kB/s.

In March my download speeds averaged around the 1.65 kB/s range.

Unfortunately there is no link - I log into my Blizzard EU account and download WoW from their website via my account.

You're on a Capped account if I'm not mistaken?

What do your speedtests look like at the moment? How are your P2P and HTTP download speeds?

Yep - you got me :D

I am on a capped account.

Stuck at work atm - don't you just hate it when work time interferes with gaming time :p

When I ran a speedtest a few days ago, they were not too bad (not as good as it was shortly after the new network was running like a bomb). P2P is also slower than before, but not as slow as what I am seeing at the moment from downloading from Blizzard.

I can run a few speedtests tonight ....... but then I will have to pause my download and will have to wait another day to play WoW

I guess it is a small sacrifice to make :)

I have also noticed a few severe lag spikes lately whilst gaming - both on Blizzard (Diablo III) as well as from my other favorite MMO site, but not enough to start squealing tho :D

If tonight's test show some constructive results, I will post em ;)

Thanks!

AfriFella will be online until 21h00, he'll be able to go through the results and see what's up.

I'm currently on a Capped account and my Battle.net updates have been running at decent speeds. Some test results will definitely help. :)

ADSL2+ Is flaky with 3 - 5 (that I am aware of) unexplained disconnections per day, G.DMT seems stable so far.

Throughput is about what you expect for a 7Mbps line, speedtest.net shows 6077 Kbps down and 650 Kbps up while wget ftp://ftp-test.telkomadsl.co.za/16Meg-test.file gets 728KB/s.

My ping to bras.afrihost.com hovers at 43ms when it is the only thing running, it goes up to 300ms during the speedtest.net upload test. I had packet loss (less than 5%) when pinging bras.afrihost.com over the weekend IIRC that was on ADSL2+.

It should be noted that Telkom upgrade the network about 2 to 3 weeks ago. My attenuation use to be about 40db and Telkom limited my sync rateto 5Mbps for stability.
