Morning Everyone

Seems like most of you picked up from the network status - but just to confirm there was a problem in the South. The issue seemed to be on the IPC itself and we hard to institute shaping on Uncapped accounts aggressively to compensate for the loss of throughput in the region. No other regions were affected (we did not route traffic through other regions).

Everything has been resolved and we are once again running at full capacity in all regions :)

I really thinking of making the switch to Vox because of unlimited night data at R249pm I am paying R199pm to afrihost but ran out of my 100gb this month it be super nice if I can get 200gb at R199. Any specicial surprises coming up Afrihost.

Doing night time data has been something we've been considering for a long time, but there were a few barriers (both logistical and cost-wise) that made this difficult. However, I think now that we have our own network, this might be something we could consider and could be implemented.

Can't make any promises here - but don't be surprised ... ;)

Really starting to consider giving up on this ISP ...

Sorry that you are still battling. I promise that sorting out your experience is definitely a priority for us. We've got a dedicated person in the Critical Care team working with you to figure this out with you. Please make sure you report all the test results to them so they can analyse and feedback to the network team :(

Am I the only one in CT that cannot ping a single bloody gaming server? Browsing is fine, but I have a 3000ms ping to any dota server, with most just timing out.

No general issues in CT this weekend. What was your general experience like? Was this only limited to gaming servers? Do you have those IP addresses for me to test as well?

so much for super cool new network, cant even stream twitch on low & missed LoL worlds finals. i gave the benefit of the doubt with this afrigreen but it failed, vox time.

Sorry that you're not getting the best experience here. Did you run any tests that I can take a look at? Generally we've been getting great feedback from the new network, so if there is anything underperforming, let's get this info to the network team :(

FYI for when someone at AH wakes up tomorrow, I just used a test account from a different ISP and everything is 100%. So. Yeah. Definitely AH's stuff-up.

That's definitely concerning. If you can post those results to compare, would definitely love to give this feedback to the network team.

im in KZN.. not that it should matter where i live.

There were problems in KZN over the weekend, should have been much better by Sunday morning. But now that we are using regional IPC, while all clients should get a similarly good internet experience, there is a possibility that the experience could be different based on things like routing, capacity, etc.

@LaraC

Seems your connection keeps a stable state with AH as your ISP.

Others seem to have issues dependent on location in the Southern region with AH as their ISP as well. I saw you keep posting JUST speed test results and YouTube info a few times, which seems stable, but speed tests/video statistics aren't always a good indicator depending on network load and time frames.

So, can you post some MTR / Traceroutes info to local servers & Int locations, if you don't mind?.

In this way we can see where the routes go & compare with other AH users in the relative same demographics.

If you can provide statistics to google.jhb/ct // thinkbroadband[.]com with MTR and traces, some other AH users might get a better picture for troubleshooting. Core dumping of raw output packets (ipv4) will be of great value.

You're are under no obligation to do this on an open forum post, but it will help others on AH network.

Below a basic output with the local lan (19 devices) under 47% utilization.

Regards,
Imp#

I think it's OK to use a general test to demonstrate that the network is generally performing well. We're super grateful for LaraC for all the testing and results she posts, but ultimately the reps are here to troubleshoot with individual users and I think it's really important to put the idea that the network is giving general problems away and focus on individual experience. This is definitely a more constructive route to finding problems. When an individual user reports an issue, this will be investigated differently to a general network problem, so it's important to start from there. If we pick up similarities in symptoms or circumstances from there, we'll be able collate the reports and update the network status if required.

Vessel.com is basically YouTube but behind a paywall, I was able to stream about 2 hours of content off of Twitch today and that is it nothing more nothing less.

I would just like to know if there are other users experiencing the same issues.

Happy to test these services for you if you want to drop me those links to test :)

Best to test individual links (rather than the site in general) so we can replicate exactly what you were doing.

Seems with the new network they can't get their billing right:
I was charged R976 for a 4Mbps Business Bundle today!?!?!?!

That's no good at all. Please PM me so I can check this out for you :(

um, if no night surfer data, can the normal pricing be looked at? Considering that most of the other ISP's are offering cheaper pricing plus night surfer, or slightly more and night surfer, wouldnt it make sense to be super aggressive in your packages, or offer more data while holding existing pricing?

We are definitely looking at all aspects relating to pricing and product experience.

I can't give all the details of what we are looking at, but there are a lot more options that we can look into now that we have our own network.

I didn't see that 100GB AfriThanks :(

Now that all our clients are on "Afrigreen" we couldn't really do AfriThanks again. Would be great if we could, I definitely burned through that 100GB replacing all my lost iPod tunes :(
