Your modem should be then be able to figure out the best Modulation to use.

Its how it is. Can I manually change that within the router? Will it cause issues?

Just set the router on auto, your profile might not be on ADSL2+ though (at the exchange). If you want to go higher than 4Mbps at a later stage you'd need ADSL2+.
If you aren't having any problems, don't worry about it.

Interesting I've set it to ADSL2+ within the router settings. Not sure what it all means, but will see.
