Looks like the problem lies between your PC and (including) the exchange.
I have contacted Afrihost support and after a 40 minute wait and spoke to Vaughn and he used Elsinore.ScreenConnect.Client and played with settings but was unable to fix the problem.
I know it is not my PC as I do a speed test on my phone connected to the WiFi and the connection is still extremely slow.
I have factory reset my router and reentered the password etc.
The speed can pickup for a minute but then goes slow again.
I am lost as what to do next?

That's way too high - definitely an issue at the BRAS here :(

Looks like you're seeing a lot more latency than you should. Please ping bras.afrihost.com (as another forumite suggested) so we can see the latency to your exchange :(

Thanks for the input Johnatan56

After 4 hours, now my internet is back to normal.:)..still don't know what happened. Maybe it was a problem at the exchange

Telkom is probably catching up on maintenance, I've seen a few issues like this in the last few weeks.

Telkom let you check if you area is under maintenance here http://www.telkom.co.za/noticeboard

Your problem sadly also lies between you and the exchange.

Not sure if I trust these stats. If this is correct, I don't see how you could connect at all with 235dB attenuation :(

Lemme check if your line number is in your PM and I'll pull stats from the exchange.

EDIT: Looks like the values are all multiplied by 10 (maybe a different dB standard) so seem correct.

Some routers don't use a fullstop.
@OP, can you ask to be set to 10Mbps to see if it becomes better? You are syncing very close to 6dB at which point the exchange will disconnect you and reconnect it. You should open a line fault. @Afripeps, can you check his exchange for congestion?

My internet was down the whole evening, after an hour of troubleshooting with a support consultant I suggested i try using my afrigreen username and it worked instantly.

According to the consultant it's the same network and account etc but then why does the afrigreen username work and the normal one doesn't. He couldn't answer me so I asked that he escalates it to technical for investigation.

Definitely not looking good there. Latency may be a little high for VDSL, but doesn't seem terrible.

Can I get your username over PM please? :(

We can only tell by the results, which do seem to indicate severe congestion. If your line is with us, we can ask Telkom to confirm congestion.
