Tried switching back to my Afrihost account and it died within minutes.

Wow, that's high. Hope Afrihost fixes it soon, good thing I have all these projects keeping me away from gaming currently :(
Though:

If they fix it, would you mind posting the details? Your case has got me curious as to the "defects" of fiber.

ping 8.8.8.8, if it looks normal it's likely not your line. Download http://mirror.is.co.za/mirrors/linuxmint.com/iso//stable/17.3/linuxmint-17.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso for a while, if it works it's not your line.

4th hop seems crazy bad, but these tests have become so inconsistent lately. My line stats look okay, but i still dont understand what is happening.

looks fine, general performance otherwise?

also, this looks like a Telkom Internet route, not Afrihost?

yes Telkom, switched to my TI account to see if anything would change. Going to switch back to AH and re run these tests.

General browsing seems slightly sluggish but okay. Mostly youtube that is buffering which is crazy

you're on fibre and this is happening? does the line lose LOS or something?

Nothing wrong with my line. It works 100% with any other ISP (except Axxess I suppose, seeing as it's the same network).

It's only the last 4 or 5 days I've been having this ridiculous issue. After 4pm and until very late, the line turns to total crap. Can't stay up more than a few minutes without dropping. Changing DNS does nothing, and the problem disappears completely if I switch to a backup account.

It's definitely confined to Afrihost.

Yeah, I'm just curious as to what's the problem. One forumite had it that the issue was that the router (or was it a switch) that was in the exchange was damaged for Afrihost which caused congestion just for them.
Rare cases like that happen, since you're on fiber we have no experience of it, so my curiosity is piqued :)

Do you have an arigreen account active?
If so try @afrigreen instead of @afrihost.co.za

I had a problem a few months ago where Afrihost accounts weren't being load balanced via all IPC links and was causing inconsistent latency and drops. TelkomZA had it fixed for me. All other ISPs worked fine.

Charl (TelkomZA) said changing realms helps sometimes.

I'll be pretty annoyed if that's the problem. Crap like that should be fixed within hours, not days.

My Afrigreen account listing has long since disappeared from my Clientzone.

Yip I know the feeling. Took me a month to figure it out. And its a Openserve problem from the BRAS to the IPC links. Nothing Afrihost can do in most cases.
Do you have a 1GB free Afrihost account? Switching between Afrihost accounts seems to also do the trick. Well for me it did.

So is there a reason why I'm getting ~20% packet loss in War Thunder? No one else in my matches are having issues. Is that normal for hop 7?

Seriously folks, it is Saturday afternoon ..... time to sit behind my PC and log into my favourite MMO.

Sadly it would appear that I am going to be forced to log into my FREE WebAfrica account (again) to experience some "pure internet joy" seeing that my AfriHost account that I pay for is yet again riddled with problems.

Just out of curiosity: Is AH going back to pre POC times when clients had to suck it up for months on end before something was done to resolve these issues, albeit seemingly only to last a few months? (Jan to March 2016).

This company is so full of bullsh*t. There's clearly a problem affecting their whole network for a while and yet nothing is done, and when you contact their customer service line, the representatives try and reset your personal line, as if the problem has something to do with you. Never once acknowledging or even suggesting that they are to blame >:(
