Hi guys!

Okay, so I received my standard/micro sim card from Afrihost yesterday but I am having several issues.

1. I tried using it in a Vodacom Vodafone R201 MIFI modem and it is not working. The device connects and I eventually found where to change the APN settings but the internet is just not working. Could it be that this mifi is too old and not compatiable?

2. I tested the micro sim in my iPad. I changed the APN settings and it seemed to work as it went to Google and opened up Facebook. Obviously this was not where I wanted to use the sim card but have to make do and tried to create a hotspot and it would just not be discoverable. With that said, I took the sim out to try again on my mifi (didn't work) and now when I put the sim card in this morning on my iPad, it won't work :( pS: I have the ipad 3 (wifi and 3G)

Afrihost tried to assist me through Twitter but there's only so much they can do and I know Vodacom will refuse to assist. Have you guys had any similar issues to mine? Any possible solutions you could offer?

It works fine on my Vodacom R205 router. All I had to do on mine was change the APN to afrihost

Maybe do a screen shot of your router network settings page here

Oh good, great to know that it does work. :)

Okay cool, I'll do so this evening. I'm sure I may have just missed something. To add, I tried it on a Macbook Pro and both a Dell Inspirion notebook and netbook.

I'll post the screenshot later.

Thanks!

What dashboard are you using ? Official Vodafone/generic open to public(bloatware - if memory serves me correct the devices aren't network locked but if you use their bloatware software it doesn't allow you to connect)

OP, never managed to get that right ever embedded simcard slots on notebooks/netbooks to connect to the SP network.

OC is one of the most qualified folks to answer that question as he does work for men in red company - I am sure he will be able to assist on what setup he has running/what dashboard he downloaded.

I dont use the dashboard. I access the router setup page via the browser.

You have never installed the software on your computer ever! Maybe that is why OP is experiencing problems, hopefully he/she will come right later on tonight.

Mention the steps how to change the apn settings on the router with screenshots Ockie to help OP

I use Linux .... so can not install the dashboard even if I wanted to :-)

I will have to do it a bit later tonight. Have family engagements
