FUDGE! Dishing out that amount every month for a business account and not being able to use my business account as I want to because IT DOES NOT WORK!

Think it is time to hit that one link. I am done with them. Can't go on like this. Testing and testing and getting NOTHING!

Im surprised you took so long

You know why I am angry:
Everything just feels so unplanned.
Yes I realise this is a POC but many people here have been complaining about performance only to be told "everything looks fine when I test" and then BAM - "we've reached the physical limit" and now have to deal with crappy internet.
Seems like things only happen when the proverbial paw paw hits fan.

There's a point I think that needs to be clarified. The POC installation is a "simulation". It's not constructed to be a full production network. We are in the process of installing the kit that we form the final infrastructure and we will need to cut over from this kit to the new hardware. This is why it's not possible to increase capacity on the POC network, and wouldn't make sense even if we could.

An important part of the POC testing was to simulate high demand, and we've done this consistently using artificial means. However, seeing actual demand rise has been a good experience for the team to work in more realistic conditions and this is teaching us a lot about how to handle this. I think everyone would agree that it would be best for us to put these measures in place with real experience behind us (while we have MTN's network as a backup for clients) and rather not when we're on our new network. I know it's painful for now, but this will potentially avoid a poor experience in these conditions in the future.

And the day before, perhaps the day before that as well, oh wait maybe just the day before that as well.

If you added one more day before you would have reached Sunday, and I would have totally called you out on that :)

Things are looking much better this this morning, I can actually login into Facebook. And TeamViewer has not dropped yet today. Seems the POC turns into a pumpkin at 6 every night. Have not run any P2P traffic yet today.

Have you guys not had enough experience working with a network that is congested?

With our current production network, this is all done via MTN and we have not been able to have direct access into the network to manage some of the core policies. So this was definitely some vital experience and knowledge for the team, and a very big part of the POC deliverables.

I think we see demand increase around them, but hopefully we'll see that ease up as people have smashed their extra data and will have calmed down a tad :(

So Afrihost, I know this is a POC network and I've read some of the posts about the planned migration.

I just think this type of speed (look below) for any form of net browsing is really unacceptable for a paid service. Note a 4mbs capped line and performing at utterly dismal speeds. Yes this has started recently and yes the POC network has mostly been pretty decent but its highly disappointing when I remember how much I used to rave about Afrihost being the best ISP and I will not deny the customer service I received when calling in has in most cases been the best. But that does not justify staying onboard for a service issues that have not been resolved since June.

My net has been giving me issues with not only latency sometimes > 1000ms but at times the network is so bad I can't even load the afrihost website homepage, stream youtube or even logon to Facebook. (This occured yesterday afternoon 12pm - 2pm for me). Currently this morning when I tested 8:23am and I'm watching my speeds jump back and forth from 3mbs to 0.2mbs.

As we've said many times, our management is still the same. While we've seen two MTN executives join our board for major strategy decisions (like moving over to our new network to offer better service, etc) the day to day running of the company is still in the same hands. If we've performed poorly at times, then it falls squarely on us - MTN have no influence over the day to day running of the company :(

Your management may well be the same but their agenda and goals would have had to change.
When your majority share holder is demanding higher profits, holds the key position on the board with veto rights and can dictate the future strategic direction, then you can hardly say that the company has not changed.

The results you've posted here seem a bit more extreme from what's been posted before by others.
Is the same amount of latency there when using your regular account?

That's simply not true, and isn't happening.

Then why buy 51% if they didn't want, and are not, in control ;)

MTN are there as a big brother in the industry, as well as a solid financial backing.
Afrihost still runs the operational side of the business.

@Afriguy

Once of your salesman once said something about "if a business account goes down that they could see if they could work out refunds for those days of none service"

Just how bad does AH/AG have to get before we start getting refunded, cause today again, I can barely use my net and before I start swearing at the representative I am dealing with right now ... ... I figured I would ask

:::EDIT:::

I for one am tired of paying a premium just to get screwed over monthly

But as I have said, these are intermittent and occurs frequently where I will have bouts of pretty much no internet connectivity as the latency is so bad and the speed of the line drops to nothing. Currently it is actually loading pages but for a capped unshaped account to have had this issue for the last few months is a bit rashing. Especially if you enjoy playing games online.

Any billing disputes need to be done via our Accounts team directly.

That isn't looking good at all. When you see these spikes up in latency again can you grab a traceroute please?
