Again though, the POC was setup as exactly that.
It's served it's purpose so we can move on with production - tackling the exact issues we've seen posted here.

Yes, it helped you learn that even when you guys try harder you are limited by IPC capacity ...

If you guys knew the network could only take a 1000 users (for example) ... Don't you think you should of had the full production version ready for when that happened for a seamless transition ?

But now we are stuck with 2 networks that don't function and staff telling us to be more patient than we have been all year

That's not how a POC works. Again, it was never setup as a backup network.
It's served it's purpose.

No need for me to be that uncivil ... ... AH will lose customers come month end ... I don't need to lower my standards

Hmmm... I also got excited there for a sec! :( Would you mind posting a tracerult result?

Test result on Afrigreen at 04:28 AM this morning, seems high latency for me is no longer only during peak traffic hours :(

We do some times see that traceroutes show higher latency than direct pings. Could you try running a continuous ping to that IP and let's see if the results are different.

Not quite sure what test you want me to perform via the statement "running a continuous ping to that IP", please elaborate?

What I can see is during online gaming, my in game ping rate is totally erratic ........ in a period of an hour's playing I have numerous situations where my character "freezes" for a few seconds at a time and then end up dead on the floor. So, yeah, the lag is not consistent, but it certainly occurs a few times in a given period. I think this is also reflected in the ping plotter results I have passed on to the AH folk. Tests were done at various times of the day (early morning, mid day and a few different times in the evening (around 4 pm, 6 pm and slightly after 8 pm) and each time the erratic lag spikes are visible. Please also keep in mind that I normally would log into an online game and if in game latency shows up as a problem for playing, I would then run the ping plotter tests to verify what I see in game. As also stated by me and proved via the same test to the same IP, when I use my WebAfrica account, the erratic lag spikes is not there (this is why I now have to log my WA account when I want to do some online gaming - again, I would log into the game via my AH Green and/or AH MTN account and when the lag spikes are visible, I revert to my WA account with no sign of this issue).

Please understand that I am not refusing to do the requested test, I am merely getting the feeling that this is yet another "hoop" you want me to jump through, possibly to pass some time in the hope that the AH "miracle" cure will be launched soon.

I am honestly not sure what a continuous ping test will show differently to what I am experiencing on a daily basis. However, if you do believe it will help AH in resolving this uber annoying situation I am in at the moment with AH's MTN and Green network, give me the specifics of what you want me to do and I will do it.

Also keep in mind that when I do run the ping plotter, I only use the internet for this application (i.e. all downloads are turned off, all online games are exited, no browsing etc). To run this test for a lengthy period of time, implies that my internet access is totally revoked for that period (else one could get skewed results, which will defeat the object).

ping plotter uses the same process as a traceroute, so i would return the same type of result. What we've seen is that a continous ping seems to show a more accurate result.

This is not a general feature of networks, but a quirk of the POC infrastructure. We've been assured that this will not be the case on the full production network kit.

I think let it run for at least 30 seconds to a minute a minute or so, we want to be able to identify clearly if the ping is consistent and what that ping response is in general.

Will do and I suppose a similar run using my WA account will also help?

Yes, that will definitely help to compare, but mostly we want to compare your ping test to the traceroute/pingplotter test to ensure that we're seeing the right info.

Comms should be sent out within the week, so latest should be tomorrow.
We'll post any updates when they're available here.

Armored Warfare has just gone into Open Beta. Afrigreen uncapped resulted in full packet loss and 2000ms ping. Web Africa Free 1 GB had no issues. I play on EU servers.

You are quite right. :) I'm very happy to jump in and help where I can, if I can see any issues that might be related to something else besides our network I won't be scared to point it out either, because in a lot of cases there definitely are underlying issues besides the network - and the two combined can cause an absolutely horrible experience.

Hi AfriFella,

Any update on your review?
