Internet has become vital in our lives (sadly) and frustration levels rise dramatically when we cant do something "basic" like connect to the internet. (it's not that basic really is it?)

All too often I give the benefit of the doubt to the supplier and think maybe it is something I am doing wrong. Maybe a setting wrong my side, MY wifi internally is faulty, MY router is misconfigured or MY router is faulty. The Line is faulty / slow.... and so i check things over and over again.

Maybe there IS something wrong with MY side but after the very poor performance of my internet link since I have migrated ISPs and then migrated to the NEW network and still I cant keep constant connection makes me think just maybe it's not all about ME.

It's in my nature to figure out why things aren't working and try fix them and make them better but now it's just silly. I'm wasting time. Hearing feedback of "oh, it will come right shortly" "send a trace" "do a bandwidth test" just doesn't cut to for me, i want to know why...
I guess I'm just an old dog and need to learn more tricks but the only last trick I have in desperation is to jump the fence and explore the other side.
I know this thread is about results and testing the new network and my 5 cents (no 2 cents coins anymore er?)

NEW network. when it works it works great. Youtube streaming at HD, FTP downloads, HTTP, P2P all is good. but when it breaks.... no HTTPS, google services suck big rotten ostrich eggs and boy do i rely i those. Even Telegram doesnt connect. no DNS resolves even on google's servers... ok you get the picture.

Thanks for everything and maybe when the pendulum swings back I will see you again.

Just checking in, Twitch is still buffering like crazy. Other activities seem normal, although I'm not downloading anything.

fusked up again. grrrrrr . damit Afrihost. come right now.
You wasting my money over time !!!!!!
What a balls up this is, back and forth up and down. every second night !!!!

I totally understand what you are saying here, makes a lot of sense. I think the reality is that AfriGreen is still a proof of concept, and we need to give the guys a chance to do their thing. To some extent, this is also a learning curve for our team, having switched out the kit that we've used for almost 3 years for new hardware and software, and adapting how we've designed our network on a high level to this new platform. I think the emphasis is on improving your experience at all times, but that often requires system reboots, or shutting down some functionality (like shaping) to stress test or isolate specific systems that could be causing problems.

Our aim is to communicate and have a conversation around this here in this forum thread, so that users are as connected as possible to what is going on and what changes they can expect (if the system is down, for example) we also want to get quick and immediate feedback on whether implemented changes have worked, or created unwanted artefacts in other systems.

I know it may seem painful from a user perspective, but we believe we're on the right path here, and when this phase is behind us, we hope to offer a solid and unique user experience that our clients will get great value out of.

I understand your frustration here, but it would me much better if you can offer some insight into what you're actually having trouble with. This way we can report and hopefully solve quickly, possibly before other users have the same horrible experience.

@Afrigenie: I set no DNS servers. Let the router detect them automatically. I only set DNS per device based on my usage of the device. With DNS details set and the router left to detect them I still had the problem.

We do generally see with DNS issues that some services work, especially skype and torrents than can scan for available ports. We'll test on our side as well. Is everything looking OK now?

Surely it's equally painful for a service provider to see so many deeply loyal users being lost? Intentions are good, execution is not. There was never any warning of system changes - by the time the bad effects were being felt it became a game of excuses. No matter how many forum mouthpieces are deployed, there just aren't enough fingers for all the holes in the dam. How unenviable.

Hi,

Moved back to vanilla account. Couldn't bare the slow speeds anymore.

Still getting problems, but they are not as severe as with the AfriGreen account. Saw a great improvement in switching back.

Regards,
Leon

Anywhere specific that you are seeing problems, or just general speeds?

It is difficult to say. I'd say there were a limited number of sites I could open - albeit still very slow.

The vanilla account seems a lot better.

Definitely! And I think it's definitely been a very humbling experience at the same time.
Saying that though, we're confident we'll bounce back as an even better ISP :)

Very odd :( I know there have been a few sites that have been a problem - carbonite.co.za being one of 'em.
Any sites that we've seen be an issue have been resolved though :) Do you have any tests that you can paste up here, or provide some example sites that other forumites and I can check?

Hi Afriman, Thanks for the interest. I shut Utorrent down and restarted it. Torrents back and running. Thanks.

Just want to add in a request. As the Afripeeps will know from other threads, YouTube performance on Android devices tend to be spotty. A 720p60 clip on PC will load just fine and without buffering whilst the same clip will buffer in the Android app.

Uncapped Home BTW.

Not sure if this is something that comes from our end, I know I've personally seen it on devices regardless of ISP.
Have you run any troubleshooting on the device itself?
