Ugh.

Signed up 2 accounts for POC testing. Both got assigned to the Green network. :(

When will the next batch of invites be sent, I have been complaining for months, and I still cannot test your new network

Not really sure - depends on when the guys feel we can let more users safely on, but I think we are adding more users in smaller batches now.

FYI, it's not linked to how much you complain, we're splitting up those who applied into capped, uncapped and business clients.

Business clients should get first priority, and I know complaining does not help as I have been having the same issues foir months. Speed test shows full speed, but I cant even update my computers wiuth the latest Windows Updates, its taking 3 hours to download 150mb of updates. This is pathetic since I have 15 computers to update and it will take me a few days.

Hi AfriMan. Got my email with AfriGreen details. It says the following in the FAQs:

Can I still access my old DSL account?

Your old DSL account details will be locked once you've connected with your new account. If you would like to switch back to your current DSL account, please get in touch by emailing [email protected].

So if I don't use the details will my current DSL account still be active?
At this point I am weighing up the options of whether to move over or not. Would hate to jump from the pan into the fire.

I'm going to wait a while before I try the new network. Feedback is not that great at the moment.

It's not going to be beneficial to only have Business clients on the network, we want to test that our various policies work with a good representation of our current capped:uncapped:business ratio.

Well if I cannot use the product I am paying for, I expect to be added to your new network as a matter of urgency, but it seems like my issues are not considered important.

At the moment we're not going the lock the old account immediately, but we can't keep it open indefinitely for obvious reasons. I'm not sure how long we're going to keep the old accounts active for, but they'll initially be available in case you have an urgent need to use them for now.

So if I were to decide to stay on my old account can I also contact [email protected] to tell them to lock/cancel the AfriGreen details?

Feedback has generally been pretty positive. I would definitely give it a try. My experience has been very positive so far.

Are torrents being shaped at all on the Afrigreen business accounts?

Are torrents being shaped at all on the Afrigreen business accounts?

It would be in relation to the product you're on. So if you're on Uncapped, the shaping policies would be pretty similar. We're using new technology to administer shaping, so we're stilling crossing the I's and dotting the T's.

Category/categories tested:

Gaming - Horrible still, ping is incredibly unstable and goes from 280ms all the way to 2000ms to a North American server. Random disconnects are common and characters rubberbanding horribly.
Browsing - Slightly faster than before but not amazing.
Video Streaming - Can't stream at 720p even. 480p only just buffers.
VPN - Using a VPN for gaming is hardly making an difference, latency jumps up and down continuously.
Latency - Very poor.

Comments

Honestly from what I've seen so far, this is only a slightly 'better' version of the old network. All the old problems still persist. Speeds jump up and down constantly, latency is awful. What is the point in prioritising gaming when the experience is so so bad? It's mostly unplayable. Before Afrigreen I was getting a constant ping of 600ms locally, and over 1000ms internationally, from 8am-5pm every day. Suddenly at 5pm things get better, but still not great.

I really was hoping/expecting better than this. We have been told to wait ages in the hopes that we would have usable internet again, but this is just sad.

Also, when I checked the client zone, there were no options under my Afrigreen account so submit any feedback, and it still says I'm being shaped at 18.8% download/6.25% P2P. How am I supposed to test any downloads if I'm still being shaped 24/7 as I was before? Horrible experience so far.

AfriMan feedback regarding AfriGreen ain't looking to good. Feeling that rather the devil you know than the devil you don't.

Can you post the results so I can get a sense of your experience? It would be really great to get some hard, actionable data from you :(

These results look pretty awful. Could you please PM me your username? Something not right here. Latency is super high, even for Durban :(
