Everything is still working beautifully for me on Afrigreen, particularly Youtube.

For me this is a really good result - don't see this download speed often. Hope it holds up :D

To top off all the issues we're experiencing at the moment, now I also have to contend with congestion on my exchange. Doesn't matter which ISP I use I get pings of 700+ and download speeds of <1mb/s

Great. Just....

Great.

So is AfriBlue dead in the water?
And how much longer do Afrihost expect us paying customers to play musical accounts? We are now going into our 7th week of promises since Gain's announcement.
It does not give us much hope here considering how long this entire saga has been going on.
I would have expected a full proof fix by now. Come on guys?

Could also be telkom maintanance. Let's hope.

Morning all

Hope you had a great long weekend.

Looks like whatever happened over the weekend should be resolved now. I did notice when testing yesterday that I was also seeing weird disconnects as some people reported, but when things were working my speeds we mostly good. So I think the people who were getting weird results may have been only a handful of people affected.

I'll hopefully know more soon and can report back :)

AfriBlue is sadly quite behind schedule at the moment and I unfortunately don't have an ETA. Hopefully it will be available, I'm really keen to see how it performs. If AfriGreen is anything to go by, I think it should also be very awesome.

I don't think Gian ever promised a deadline on things to cut over, we're always going to make sure we're 100% happy before we make any permanent changes. We're still in the POC stage with AfriGreen, so I think we'll continue to test and work until we believe AfriGreen is production ready.

That really sucks! Is it 100% confirmed it's congestion, and perhaps not just a slow line, which can hopefully be fixed? :(

The throughput increases after a port recreate, for a little while (2 or 3 hours) but then starts degrading again. Unfortunately the port recreate function on Clienzone doesn't work anymore and I couldn't be bothered phoning the helpline every couple of hours. Have not asked anyone to dig and see if they can find a problem. I have gone through this finger pointing exercise before and it was hell on wheels. Took me 6 months to get it sorted out previously.

Toying with the idea of putting my house on the market anyway to move to a fibre enabled neighborhood. I just simply do not have the patience for this anymore. (Not meaning AH service, just bad lines and being tied into a ****ty 4mb line because there are no other options.)

Everything is running brilliantly at the moment, however facebook videos just do not work. They either buffer throughout the video (even though I can stream 1080p on youtube without buffering), or just fail to load. Any known issues on this?

We do see that with congestion, changing accounts or resetting ports does give a slightly better experience for a little while.

Are you maybe in a good mobile coverage area?

Not that I am aware of. Was working for me yesterday and this morning. Might be an issue between FB and YouTube :(

streaming (netflix) wasnt that great this past weekend - hopefully what ever issue it was is fixed now, will see tonight

While yesterday was fine. Today I'm not getting full speeds. Downloads also not getting full speed. Not bad speed but not what I've been getting when Afrigreen is running at it's best.

Facebook seems fine but twitter and tweetdeck aren't loading properly. *edit* Facebook also gone slow now but while downloading. Takes a while to load and most images don't load too.

Browsing is slow while downloading. Took 30 seconds for this page to refresh

Definitely something wrong now. Browsing getting progressively slower.

Gmail doesn't even load now I get. ERR_TIMED_OUT

On my cell I average HSDPA. I get about 12 - 16mb down. Cost of mobile data isn't funny though... :p

@AfriMan Unrelated query - I can't send any mail using smtp.afrihost.co.za. It's not just today that it hasn't worked for me.

Hi. I've got a 20mbps line, 200GB capped data + 100GB AfriThanks data, Unotelly, Netflix and Hulu.

I only started using AfriGreen since last week Monday/Tuesday and switched mainly because Hulu performance was terrible on AfriRed. There was a significant improvement in Hulu performance, but it still wasn't great. On AfriGreen I would get buffering for 20-30 seconds every 5-10 minutes. Painful, but watchable.

But since Afrihost announced the free 100GB AfriThanks data, things went downhill. Now my issue is a bit weird, because I am getting different results on Hulu streaming depending on the device that connects:
- Roku 3 - perfect, works like a bomb. No buffering.
- Hulu website, using Firefox on a Windows 8.1 PC - perfect, works like a bomb. No buffering.
- Android app on Sony Xperia Z3 - Terrible. Buffers for 5 minutes, and then plays video for about 5 seconds
- Android app on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - Terrible. Buffers for 2-3 minutes, and then plays video for about 15 seconds
- Android app on Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini - Terrible. Refuses to even play, it's only constantly buffering

I then signed up for a free 1+1GB account with WebAfrica, and connected my ADSL with this account, and Hulu worked like a bomb on all my devices, with no issues. Switched back to AfriGreen, and Hulu stopped working again on the Android devices, but worked fine on the Roku 3 and PC. All this was tested within a space of about 15 minutes. So it has to be something wrong on the AfriGreen network.

Based on this I've also ruled out issues relating to my network setup, WiFi signal, Unotell, ADSL line and individual device settings. On a 20mbps line with unshaped capped data, I should be getting no issues at all.

For some reason Hulu is just not working on Afrigreen when connecting from an Android device. I've even updated the Android Hulu apps to the latest version available (dated August), and it works fine on WebAfrica, but not on Afrigreen.

I have to conclude that the Android devices are reaching Hulu's servers using a different route / server as compared to my PC and Roku 3. I've had zero issues with Netflix on all of the above devices, using either AfriRed or AfriGreen.

I am at the stage where I feel like cancelling my Afrihost account and signing up with Vox or someone else. Obviously, that is a last resort.

Please assist.
