This looks like really horrible exchange congestion to me. The second hop is off Telkom's BRAS, clearly a backhaul issue here or a line fault causing high latency :(

Interesting article about the MTN/Afrihost relationship on MoneyWeb this morning:

http://today.moneyweb.co.za/article...pPAeZeuwhd4cWQ==&date=2015-08-28#.Vd_tf8RHmrV

There is a LOT of speculation in that article. Strangely they did not ask for comment from Afrihost or MTN, we're always happy to provide context so that our clients don't end up with unconfirmed theories.

I hear you, but then again, if indeed speculation it's not necessarily all bad. Some impressive numbers being thrown around there...
Some don't make a lot of business sense in the bigger picture, but nevertheless.

The author is mostly asking some honest questions which are on many minds at the moment when thinking of the AH/MTN future... Especially with AfriGreen not being so Yellow, you now :whistle:

Anyhow, from what I've heard, the MW journalists are generally very open to input and comments - just like MyBB's guys and girls. ;)

I think comparing to a US download is very problematic. Firstly, depends on which CDN he is pulling the data from, of it is is cached anywhere. The time also matters becuase when we download, say in the middle of the night, that's peak traffic in the US.

Are you on a 40Mbps line?

Grr this is what happens when I post when tired, I was getting 1 Meg on my 10M line where as she was getting her full line speed of 40M. So yeah fair enough due to the different CDN's mileage my vary BUT 1/10th of my line speed is pretty absurd.

Again, comes down to routing and CDN's. Remember that we peer with multiple content delivery networks to get content that they cache, while people in the US will peer differently, even directly with the source network, so it's a little difficult to make a direct comparison.

Do you have a link for the download?

Strangely we know the MoneyWeb people well, so it's strange that they didn't just put the questions to us. I think he's also implying rifts and uncertainty where there are none. We have a great relationship with MTN, and when it comes down to it, they realise that our success translates into their bottom line. I think a lot of this is creating mystery around a pretty straightforward business relationship.

We're still working on recreating the issues that you're having on a Windows 7 platform. Can't compare cos we had no power last night, but AfriGreen is definitely running pretty well for me right now. Up until we lost power, was definitely getting good speeds.

Oh okay. Let me know if or when you'll are able to recreate the issue.

Normal browsing without downloading is working fine today, I'm not getting those error messages, unlike late last night.

Though my other issue continues to persist with those errors.

That's what we're testing, hopefully we can isolate something :(
