Really wonder if they can actually offer a service we are paying for, same happens on normal account.

This high latency is just since this morning, and hadn't improved significantly by 22:40 tonight

This looks like high latency to your router. Maybe check that you don't have any big downloads running in the background or an anti-virus or firewall delaying your traffic :(

I too have the VOX 100GB deal as my backup and agree that their service is awesome. I took it also for the fact that they carry over data that belongs to me as I have paid for it, something that AH seems not to 'get'.
I understand that the Consumer Council is going to expand it's investigation into Mobile networks Prepaid Data non carry-over to ISP's as clearly some ISP's are doing what the Network operators are doing:
“The network operators provide you with a month, whereas section 63 of the Consumer Protection Act says you must be afforded three years to consume the data,”

While the NCC investigation is studying terms and conditions of mobile contracts, or postpaid deals, the section of the Consumer Protection Act deals with terms such as ‘prepaid’.

Section 63 (2) of the Consumer Protection Act states:

“A prepaid certificate, card, credit, voucher or similar device contemplated in subsection (1) does not expire until the earlier of:
a) the date on which its full value has been redeemed in exchange for goods or services or future access to services or (b) three years after the date on which it was issued, or at the end of a longer or extended period agreed by the supplier at any time.”

There is a lot of talk around this issue. I think the main contention is that this specifically refers to vouchers redeemed for service, which is very different from direct prepaid data provision. All the major networks have weighed in on this in pretty much the same way, but we are always ready to abide by the decision of the regulators if they decide that data provision needs to be included in that, but my personal opinion is that this will ultimately affect the general consumer negatively.

Upload, download and ping are normal but jitter which was usually between 0 and 5 ms have gone up to over 200 ms.

Jitter definitely looks pretty horrible here. Did you run any further tests or note when this changed?

eff me, what a long day of frustrating usage of afrigreen. To be honest the past 2 weeks have been heaven with Afrigreen, but since yesterday, everything just went to sh***. I kept hoping things would somehow improve within 48 hours, but i have given up and reverted to my back up. I have had enough of this, even spotify is buffering, are you kidding me?

Sorry that you had a poor experience here. Afrigreen was mostly fine for me this weekend, but I did not test anything more major that a few downloads and some YouTube, all of which seemed fine when I tested.

Did you notice if there were particular times when your experience was poor?

Browsing incredibly slow at the moment. With pretty much any site I try.

That sucks. I was definitely doing a lot of browsing on Saturday evening for my studies, and I didn't pick up any issues on my side.

Have the team contacted you regarding the Windows 7/Browsing issue we're trying to recreate?

Yeah really not great YT buffering on 360p even though its resolving locally.

Must say I'm getting tired of the changes being implemented on a friday and us dealing with it over the weekend.

The team were pretty sure there would be no last minute changes before the weekend, so everything should have been as it was during the day Friday :(

That's horrible. What specifically was not performing for you? Any results i can look at?

All good again! Thanks.

Downloads were timing out after about 5MB, which is why everything was just slow haha. All back to normal now :)

Z

Yeah ... been like a week since I was able to get higher than 480p without buffering

:::EDIT:::

Just keeps getting worse, can barely use my line right now

My YouTube was pretty OK, I didn't test anything specifically though. Watched some HD trailers while running some downloads and all seemed OK. Was probably around 3pm on Sunday, so we'll need to see if anything changed.

AfriGreen has been consistently fantastic for the last week. Torrents going wild at full capacity of 10MB line. Browsing has been fantastic and no buffering on YouTube watching at 720p. Streaming to YouTube Live on 480p yesterday also worked flawlessly. And all that from Durban where there's no local IPC yet.

Was certainly able to make full use of the AfriThanks GB! This really excites me about the future of AfriHost. Hanging in there!

Agreed! Apart from yesterday, everything has been 100s

Youtube back to being amazing. Damnit why couldn't it be like this over the weekend.

Try ping 192.168.0.1 -t
Let it run for a couple of minutes then it ctrl-c
Afterwards try it again with a cable.

Everything back to "Normal" with Afrigreen in Cape Town this morning, and with no tweaking or configuration changes on the router whatsoever:

I don't think the network team have done much this morning, so I don't think any changes have been made on our side as well :(
