Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

I have exactly the same details as you guys, it's a standard 10Mbps business account.
I'm just posting my experience, we've got people setup in CPT (that's me), in Durbs and obviously JHB. So trends are definitely spotted from our end.

Either way, we need to look at tests and have as much info passed onto the network team. Without that, and without you guys there isn't a bunch we can do.
Good examples of tests we're looking for are on post #3 of this thread.

Well I keep on submitting tests, sending PM.s to AfriReps, still the issues remain. Afrigreen used to be decent, now its crap, it seems as you add more, or more users log on the network has serious issues. Same thing happened on the default Afrihost accounts

Torrents are back up again. I'll check it out tonight since this happens only at night. Hopefully it doesn't go to crap again like last week.
Just to confirm for tonight. If I test with just changing to various accounts (waiting ~5 minutes for each) and posting the results, will that be enough?

Thanks for keeping me posted.
Should be fine :)

Maybe also post up what torrent you're using - maybe test with a real distro this time :p
Keep me posted.

I live in a small area. Most people are at work and it isn't school holidays yet so hence not a peak period in my area so why the crappy speed test result?

Notice the decent 2nd hop....... You guys once said that usually anything above 30ms on the 2nd hop indicates congestion.
Well none of the 2nd hops are above 30ms - most below 20ms. So based on what you said, there isn't congestion at the moment.
So why the crappy speeds? Why the crappy speedtest result as shown in post 4331?
And yes, I know we have had numerous discussions and yes I know there is an issue at the exchange causing congestion during PEAK times.
This is not PEAK time in my area and as the tracerts show, my exchange seems to be fine at the moment.
If you want anything else from me let me know.

Remember that congestion also sees degradation, it's not always high latency on the 2nd hop.
What sync is your router reporting?

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.5 db 14.5 db
Noise Margin 17.8 db 14.0 db

I would like re-iterate - it is by no means PEAK time in my area at the moment.

Drop me a PM with your line number, I'll see a port reset helps things along.

So this is the answer I get form Afrihost support in clientzone
All suggest concerns or issues outside of the AFrihost network.
So that means, not being to able to play Diablo on Afrihost, but able to play it on another ISP is not their concern?

That is like having a faulty flue pump and the car manufacturer saying they don't supply petrol :)

Not necessarily, no. We do need to run tests here - we've had a few internal guys test Diablo a stack and can't seem to have the results replicated.
Please complete thorough tests on both Afrigreen as well as your regular account. A good baseline for tests is pasted below, if you can run with those I can get this passed onto our team.

Seemed good, I'm diggin' them greens! HTTP was fast and responsive, NNTP saw some up/ down throughput. OS updates seemed slower than normal.

The above is just an example of how we can collect info, looking forward to reading through the posts :)

Thanks, will do. I just feel the answer from the support was unacceptable, and they are trying to pass the buck.

Our team was checking this out last night :) Are you still having issues this morning?

Looks OK, is it better than last night?

My speeds are slow and my line doesnt sync at full speed....tried restarting but nothing....

Hmmm, that doesn't sound good. Can you please send me a PM with your ADSL line number, let me figure out what is going on here.

Generally I am shocked and lost for words. I know I bad mouthed AfriGreen in the beginning, but I take it all back. Things are pretty good and stable this side. No problems to speak of, except for Facebook being a tad slow and routing internationally. But generally speaking I am happy.
