Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

I got a test account with your competitor, everything is flying at almost full speed.
One thing I noticed though, when using Kodi, even though ISP 'X' is performing so well, it doesn't stream as well as Afrihost does even though they performing so poorly.
My torrents were completely dead on AH last night.

Just remember that we cut over to the full production network over the next few days, so I think we should be seeing that insanely good experience Gian promised :)

Don't worry I'm sticking with you guys as promised. I just needed to know what its like to be connected for a change :D

I don't think that was Gian's intention at all, we definitely know that Afrigreen is not performing at peak right now, in terms of individual experience. We're happy with how the proof of concept has performed. Even now, having reached capacity, we believe it's doing well in terms of preserving latency and giving a good overall performance while under strain (with very little human intervention). This was a big part of the POC requirement before moving to the production phase.

You can cancel in ClientZone if you still genuinely wish to cancel your account. Remember you can also pause if you want to wait and see. You can always unpause if you see things improving and want to give the full network a try. With local IPC in major regions, the performance can only be better :)

With regards to the pause option, if I pause now does it stop the service immediately or does it wait till month end?

Just some feedback, the Normal Afrihost network seems to be fine after hours. However during the day there is a good 50+ latency extra to local sites and even more to int sites. Unacceptable when gaming.

Afrigreen has normal latency but manages to spike uncontrollably all day long, coupled with some 3-4% packet loss . Again unacceptable when gaming.

Afrigreen at this stage is COMPLETELY unusable for me since I cannot go with random lag spikes and packet loss. At this stage moving from the MTN network to the new Afrigreen seems like it would make my connection EVEN worse.

P.S I don't mean to dump on you guys, in fact I commend you for weathering the sh*tstorm that has been the Afrihost network the past few months. I just need you to 100% pass my displeasure along to the people who are in charge or making the choices relating to the network.

Awesome - when the cutover is done, I think you'll see that overall performance will stay at a high level (if all goes as expected).

So, can we expect to be compensated for the MONTHS of bull service on your EXISTING network after we've been moved to the NEW network (provided that actually works)...

Chances are, you've got a hope in hell, right?

You're still a bloody joke!

How will we know when the new network is up and running, and will we have to change anything on our side? I have moved back to your default network as Afrigreen is extremely slow for everything.

We'll be communicating migration dates once they're confirmed.
You won't have to change any details.

Glad to hear that you are seeing a better experience. Remember that we'll also have local IPC in KZN, so it will only get better :)

Looking forward to IPC in Durban, thank you.

Afrigreen purring along at the moment - as good as my 10Mb gets:

Let's rather chat in the business thread.

So your competition went down for a while today....website and all.
I guess the grass isn't always greener....
