Afrihost punts more free data

all good and well but can they not make me effing dc every 20 minutes?

last week they were down the entire day, you call the technical support and the guys on the other end have no clue how to handle customers, and they just default to blaming telkom.

My connection has for the last few days also been up and down with frequent disconnects.

But - it happens on my mweb account as well, so I presume that it is indeed Telkom, at least in my case..

I think it's more to do with the fact that they have capacity that is not used.

No problems with Disconnects here. It is more likely a problem with your line.

I rated them a 3 out of 10 in the latest mybroadband survey. Discounts are the only reason I am sticking around right now....

nope, do you work for Afrihost? :D

nah in seriousness it is always my line as their excuse then I get bounced around to telkom and back only for the issue to be their side. afor the last week I DC on average every 20 minutes, yet I switch to another ISP account and no problems?

I think that is the same story with most people

Ditto.

Just got an uncapped 10Mb/s account for R1 to the end of March.

Thank you, Afrihost!

+1 and i am making sure i get my R1 worth of data!!

Can one get this offer without the obligation to pay the full price for April? In the terms and conditions, it says:

Afrihost only operates month-to-month contracts (cancellable on 30 days' written notice).

Afrihost requires one calendar month's written notice, which notice will take effect on the first day of the month immediately following the end of the notice period

It usually works that way.

If you cancel by the 24th, no funds will be deducted for the next month.

This is one of the reasons I like them. No mess, no fuss.

ADSL line rental also with Afrihost, so the one time I had a problem, they were the one-stop-shop. No probs.

Scored 8/10 from me.

I will have to do some serious Linux distro evaluations this month to use up all my free data

What happens when you connect to two accounts? Is it only the Afrihost one that dies? My line loses sync every few hours, but that is all Telkom unfortunately :(

Both connect and run fine, with the afrihost it will dc me every so often (about 20 mins) I drop connection, it re-authenticates and I am connected again, yet if it is doing it and I am busy I change to fnbconnect and then it completely stops. then change back the following day and say story.

I am also just generally dissatisfied with the service from the time they moved over the problems just came one after the other.

my reason for posting here is not to bring up my issue, it is to highlight that I would rather they sort out stability and an acceptable service than worry about increasing capacity and giving away free bandwidth to keep customers.

Thanks. I've contacted them to make sure, still waiting for a answer. I don't ant any funny surprises, especially when their network is not as reliable as it should be.

They have confirmed that if cancelled before the 25th, the will be no obligations for the next month. Sweet.

As far as I know they don't have their own IPC.

If they have issues, it is due to the fact that it is business as usual at MTN.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. Then I'm glad non of my other accounts depend on MTN AFAIK.

Afrihost dude phoned me to ask me if i had been experiencing disconnects in the last few days because i reported a fault to telkom on the voice service of my line 2 weeks ago. I said, there was a problem last week when everyone else was having problems with Afrihost. I wanted to ask him, "When have I not had problems with my ADSL since joining Afrihost?".

Pity the offer is not for April :) Also they auto activated my free gigs, wanted to see if I can activate it next month when I need it, but alas that didnt work. So 2 months of free gifts I wont use as I'm on uncapped with another ISP ATM until the end of this month.

Can't have your cake and eat it ... :D

Will just have to buy gigs next month as I need it.
