Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

@Afrigirl Will the (Vuma) data usage ever function on the clientzone again?

We are still busy with some core network changes that are taking place over the next few months. This includes a complete BNG overall where we will switch all clients to PPPoE on new core network switches and devices.

The usage will be available but no ETA at this time yet.

My broadband light and Service light are both off on my ONT box and no internet connection for over an hour. I see Webafrica is showing the Vumatel Outage but why Afrihost is not showing it?

How long will this take to fix? Ticket ID: KOQ-883-76107

@Afrigirl @AfriGuy @AfriFella

Hi

The ticket is with Vuma maintenance to attend. Possible fibre break.

For Vumatel active Ethernet it will stay as is we just need to integrate it into the new BNG setup to track usage and other user mapping-related tasks. For all the other FNO's we will switch to PPPoE due to continuous issues with broadcast storms and rogue dhcp causing issues.

@AfriNatic

I’m on Vuma Aerial (not sure if it’s active Ethernet ) but am I staying on DHCP or moving to PPPoE

My data usage stats are working currently

So Frogfoots broken usage will also be fixed by the move to pppoe?

Hi

I'm still looking into this. It's either a transit provider issue or fno issue. TCP is quite fussy with speeds if the scaling is not right on high latency connections and if there is any form of loss.
Still battling to even get 50% of my line speed, tried logging a ticket and was just asked to ping from my ONT.
Is someone looking at this?

Do you have an ETA for the repair? My area is still not listed as a Vumatel outage. Last time it took them a week to fix. Can our Councillor get involved?

Why does it take two days or more for a ticket to be assigned to a Tier 2 agent?

Is this the fault listed below causing our outage?

ID: NWI-22321
Type: Outage
Provider: Vuma Reach
Name: Kaalfontein
Status: In Progress

Hi

The Vumatel portal has been updating faults since Tuesday. I have reported the issue to Vuma to advise.

Frogfoot usage should work as expected.
NYK-609-38213

My FF line apparently used 40 odd GB in Feb and 30 odd so far in Mar, from 500-600 the previous month's, usage patterns have not changed much, support said there was an issue.

Will you support RFC 4638 PPPoE with 1500 MTU and 1500 MRU?

And how will IPv6 be delivered? Will that be run over PPPoE as well?

Currently with Vox on Vuma Aerial using 1500 MTU/MRU on PPPoE and 1508 MTU on the ethernet link to ONT works perfectly without any packet fragmentation up to 1500 MTU/MRU. Wanted to switch to Afrihost however this is making me nervous since I don't want to deal with unnecessary packet fragmentation and lower MTUs.

My connection is back but why is it so slow? I am paying for a 500Mbps download and only getting 142 Mbps.

My ping in game has gone from 3 to 150 in COD MW3

Hi

Please can you reboot your router and see if the issue is resolved.

One of our nat machines is struggling a bit with traffic. We are making route adjustments but for now, I have removed you from NAT.

@AfriNatic

I've seen a marked increase in jitter in my online games on EU servers over the past couple of days. What may be the issue?

The image above is for a League of Legends. Normally I get around 155ms and 0-1ms of jitter. I'm in Cape Town.

Thanks
