Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

hmmm, did Afrihost/Openserve just took a dip for about 5-10 min in the Menlo area ? Had zero connectivity, then came back slowly (20/20 speedtest on the router) and now back again
Hi, checked the network and it is stable. There are no drops from 13h00 till now.

Yeah I've noticed some weird slowdown on image loading on imgur, and now and then sites seem to take just a hint longer than usual... but speed test returns full speed, no issues, also not seeing any dropped packets on traces so I haven't been able to isolate it.
Honestly it could be Imgur itself, they do have hiccups every now and then. I use ShareX, with it auto-uploading to Imgur for screenshots and like once a month for a few minutes, they just don't accept any of the uploads.

The speeds in Vredehoek Cape Town are really bad at peak hours, especially now - Friday night. Only getting 10mbps on a 50mbps line. Is this an Afrihost issue or an Octotel one? Had Vumatel with Mind The Speed before and never had issues like this, speed was constantly at 50mbps if not more. On Afrihost/Vumatel its normally only 30-40mbps. What gives?

Thanks please keep us updated

We are on a P1 meeting with all parties involved working on the issue.

Afrihost and Vumatel have managed to find the root cause of the issue and mitigated the impact. Apologies for the downtime experienced.

Anyone down on Vuma Villages still? My brother complains that his internet is still down where they have no connectivity

The issue has been resolved.

If he is still down it's not related to the issue that was affecting everyone. Can you pm me his email so I can investigate?

I'm investigating degraded performance on MetroFibre in PTA/Centurion/Midrand area.

Metrofibre is busy with an Emergency change request affecting PTA/Centurion/Midrand to Teraco. Intermittent connection and slow speeds will continue until the change request is completed. ETA 7am.

Hi, I am busy assisting my parents in KZN with getting a fibre installation through Afrihost. I helped my mum set up her account and she has verified the debit order and banking information this morning so the next phase would be for someone to go to their place and actually put the fibre into their home.

I was wondering how long it would take for the installation to be completed? I am happy to share more information here with a rep via DM if need be.

Installation lead time varies depending on the fibre network provider. You may send the email address used to sign up or order number via DM.
