Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Need some assistance.

I'm currently at my parent's place where we have a Fibre line with Vuma Reach.

I use a Citrix VPN for work which (I think) uses split tunnelling. From what I can see, I am unable to connect to websites hosted on my company's network, and it seems to be failing DNS resolution.

Where it gets really weird is, if I create a hotspot on my phone, connect my laptop to the hotspot and leave my phone connected to the Wifi, everything works.

So I'm still using my Fibre line as my network connection, but by using my phone as the "router" I get around the DNS issue.

Any idea how can I get this working without using my phone in this way?

I checked the router admin page and see the DNS server is "set by ISP" with no option to change it.

Hi.

Please share the links to some of those sites.
 
I also had issues on IPV6, kept taking me to login.afrihost.com/capped on some sites. After explaining to the support team that no, switching off my guest wifi won't fix it and that there is DHCP, Static and PPOE as connection options, there is no MAC option, I switched off IPV6 and all was good. So not sure if that's maybe related as well.

Is it on a Vumatel line?

Thank for the reply. I only use your DNS servers for onnet cache services.

I don't see issues on 2.1, 2.3 and 2.4. also this has only started from Monday. But if it is rate limiting...then no need to worry

fibre has been pretty bad tonight. I'm in Cape Town, vumatel. Very high latency in games and even just general browsing
 
@AfriNatic @Afrigirl So do you guys not do that thing, like WebAfrica, whereby you go slightly over the max line speed so customers get the actual line speed when they download? Like WA, for example, on a 400/400 you'd actually clock at ~430mbps so you'd get the ~400mbps speed when downloading.

They do, I get 525 upload on my line

This evening has been very bad with regards to packet loss on frogfoot (Somerset West, old Route networks)

Hello.

It would be helpful to include the results from a tracert or PingPlotter to visualise the network path and pinpoint where the high latency begins. This will assist in identifying any potential bottlenecks or issues along the route.
