Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Generally during the day everything seems to fine.
Mostly everything loads fast.

However, from around 4pm to midnight, web traffic slows to a snail pace. Random websites are slow to load, others quick, 5 minutes later the website that was quick becomes slow.
It is not one specific site or service.
It is all completely random.

I even isolated the connection using 2 different routers connected via ethernet using 3 different laptops.

The results were the same.

Streaming throughput is good, speedtests are good, video calls are good, dropbox is good. Everything else seems fine. Only web browsing is touch and go.

That mirrors my experience as well.

I was in JHB a few days ago and even accessing my Synology over their remote access feature was extremely slow, yet the internet connection I was on was giving me upwards of 250mbps.

Exa

Exactly the same here - Not inspiring confidence that Afrihost cannot see anything wrong on their network...

At the moment even MYBB needs a couple of refreshes to completely load the pages/threads - this is my experience at the moment, not sure of others...
Same here.

Out of desperation I have tried Cloudflare WARP and PIA as well to see if it is a routing issue, but unfortunately the issue seems to remain

If it helps, the slow loading happens on cool ideas as well, it seems like a cloudflare issue to me, cloudflare is serving some sites such as mybb from their Lisbon node/pop, when you ping the ip it looks local but if you look at the http headers in the browser dev tools you can see its coming from Lisbon.

Hi @Afrigirl @AfriNatic ,

So what's being done about this lag'eish browsing?
Surely people can't go on and hitting refresh a million times to get a site to load fully...???
It's clearly a cloudflare issue, noticed that the issue still remains when I switch to warp. Sites such evetech are affected, it also resolved to cloudfare.

Cool, its a CF issue, but has Afrihost as an ISP done anything about it, have they comunicated with CF this is happening?
It's all mute from the Afri peeps... And this is what leading people to getting frustrated at AH

I think these frustrations should be directed to the Hosts/sites and not the ISP.

Hi.

The issue is primarily affecting sites resolving to Cloudflare. We will engage with them to find out if they are aware and if there is any solution being implemented.

seems distinctly mybroadband, i am not having issues with other CF based sites.

Evetech is loading for me. Wootware gave me a warning.

I’m starting to feel a slowdown in browsing again from around 4PM
