Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

The internet is back on in my area (deep south. CPT) BUT I have at times 99% packet loss - since the reactivation last night. It's impossible to do anything that requires a stable line (like gaming, etc).
It isn't sporadic. It's almost constant.

Tests shows reduced speeds (should be 400 up/down, only getting about 75 up/down) and latency spiking to 1600ms.

I previously had an issue with loss, but it would only happen sporadically and for a short amount of time. After about 10 emails back and forth with Afrihost I eventually gave up. On person replies to me and says they can see the loss in the ping and tracert tests that I ran. Then the very next email the person says they can't see it. After trying to convince the person I was corresponding with that there were issues, I just gave up.

Absolutely appalling customer service and a waste of my time as well as theirs.

I think it might be time to switch - between Afrihost and Frogfoot this is a clown show

Quick question - not sure if I missed anything - my FF connection suddenly is connecting via PPPoE and not Dynamic IP anymore?
Hi.

We do plan to move to PPPoE; it is in progress. As a result, on our routers, TR-069 is pushing PPPoE.

Hi @Afrigirl having multiple disconnects and packet loss on FF in PE since coming back online after that FF outage over the weekend, are there still fixes ongoing? Top line is my FF FTTH - red is packet loss, blue is when it failed over to 5G: 1773642119149.png

Hi.

The fix has been completed.
Please drop me a PM with your email address.

@Afrigirl did you know if they was any drops on international with vumatel yesterday around 4-6pm had some customers saying they had intermittent drops when streaming international

I'm seeing some occasional packet loss over the past two days. Octotel, Somerset West / Strand. Not sure if it's just me, but putting this up here just in case.

@Afrigirl Do you know if there is an outage with Openserve?

About to log really bad packet loss and latency now for the 3rd time via WhatsApp channel:

Hi.

There is no outage with Openserve.
I will log a fault with Openserve.
This started after the fault you had with Openserve on the 12 of March?
Yeah, there was a complete line outage in Jan, which Openserve tech come out and pulled out the refractor or something.

The issue reported on the 12th, tech came out, tested the line, and said there nothing wrong with the optical levels. So the issue has got to be further upstreams between Openserve to Afrihost NNI

EDIT: Chatting to Hlayisani on WhatsApp, they recreated the port, but still seeing loss. Did reboot Mikrotik as well. So will monitor for the next 30 minutes

Hi.
Any issues with Afrihost / Vuma in Edgemead Cape Town?
Speed tests still appear fine but games are complaining about packet loss and in general I can tell something is up. Dropping calls on Slack / Teams and general slugging feeling. It has been a few days now.

Hi.

Nothing listed for your area.
Please drop me a DM with your account details and the packet-loss test results.
