So this will work on a fibre modem?, or u still need a adsl line?

If you have Openserve you can switch PPPoE details. You can use adsl account on Openserve fibre too.

I'm only on 20/10 at the mo so that's fine.
Am I right in seeing they give 5GB free?

Yes the 5GB is free. It's actually 10GB because all capped data is actually double data. Instant activation too. Very confusing website but the network is pretty good.

Nice, their site is broken right now, dns problem on the server clearly... https://prnt.sc/pottyu will bookmark for tomorrow

The packetloss is dropping but seems like the network is still pretty much offline.

How is nordVPN for gaming? Looking at either express or nord in the hopes to play APEX tonight.

I do not recommend Nord VPN for gaming. I have it. All their servers allow p2p so that cause the servers to have ping spikes every now and then.

If you want to play games tonight maybe try wtfast free trial. Works pretty good.

Hey everyone

Sorry it's been such an awful day internet-wise.

Local service seems to be a lot better, the guys are working flat out to try to bring the network problem under control and restore normal performance.

Although we are normalising things, we're still seeing a lot more packet loss than we'd ike, and it's going to affect latency sensitive services like gaming and streaming.

International is still up and down, but I promise we're doing everything that we can.

Wtfast gets stuck on connecting to server for me...

Do you find Nord VPN to give you better torrent speeds? Downloading on my 200MB line has been giving me around 12MBPS during the week. Was hoping to get closer to 20MBPS downloading well seeded linux distros.

Thanks for the feedback, it would be useful to put this on your website as well. Do you guys have any indication of when it is likely to be resolved?

With Nord VPN I get about 16MB/s (~150Mbps) on torrents using my 200Mbps line. I'm thinking it's overhead and encryption rather than bad servers or peering issues because all of the Nord VPN South African servers pers locally in JHB with ~5ms for me. They use 2 backbones and both seem pretty decent.

There should be a notice on the website already - will try and get it updated.

I can confirm that the issue is a DDOS attack. This could be similar to other ISP's who've been targeted in the past week or so - but that would be pure speculation. With these type of issues, it's really difficult to trace the source (or intent) of an attack.

We're working with all our partners to nuke the unwanted traffic, however it's a very tricky business.

We've got our CTO, network manager, our partners and experts all climbing into this, so I am pretty confident we should be back to normal soon. However, it's very difficult to say when it would be over. It really depends on a lot of forces outside our control right now.

I promise we're bringing every resource at our disposal to bear to get through this.

Might want to update the Website status page. ADSL and Mobile also affected. Once traffic leaves the Airmobile network packetloss and ADSL well uses same network as Pure Fibre on international.

Thank you for the quick and transparent communication. While the situation is frustrating, it is great to know you guys are on it, and updating us constantly. Full marks for comms on this forum, I suggest putting the same details on your website. Thanks again.

Update from our Network Management Team:

Although the attacks continue, the severity or impact thereof has decreased.

Locally hosted content like Netflix, Gmail and YouTube should be working well.
Internationally hosted game servers and use other interactive resources will remain an issue till the attacks go away or are mitigated.
