Hey guys

Looking at the masses of posts regarding the "Best ISP in South Africa" Afrihost, I think a poll is called for to sum all up the satisfaction from their clients.

Why not just ask the mods to add a poll to this thread?

Haha! That is an option as well @ Mods, please create a poll for us. Thanks a mill!

Well, I'd say AH has been terrible for the last month or so... But for the last 6 months (excluding this month) it's been mostly positive.

I think the poll's time frame is too long.

I was with Afrihost for a few years. I had to leave in Feb this year because the service(s) became useless. I still have a test account and time and again I play with it. No change for me at least.

I specifically did not want to measure just the last month otherwise it would have been very bad. the last 6 months, should give a better indication on the clients experiences. This is not just the internet portion, but support, billing etc. as well.

Let's be honest - it has been going downhill for a while - they used to be top and untouchable in the market but I think they grew too quick and a rather bad partnership took place - This was also a ploy to enter the Mobile data sector. If you are struggling to keep your eye on 1 ball, then why take on another. Also they lack foresight - they only order anything extra once the network is pretty much screwed. Let us not forget when for months we were all only shaped to 6% - for some some regions it is still ongoing. Their call centre also is very frustrating - not just talking about waiting times but the answers we sometimes receive - as well as when you are dealing with one person and they seem to be making headway but then your next email in reply is answered by someone else and getting to the solution is totally derailed. Rant over but I really hope they read these replies here and actually take note - replying to complaints is one thing but nothing coming from it is frustrating.

For me, I did a lot of reading and picked what seemed to be the best of the bunch at the time. Getting tired of line issues which although they are not responsible for, Afrihost do manage my line but nothing to help/follow up with Telkom when I have these issues. Support is useless, follow up/feedback is pathetic and I seem to be always asking them to check my accounts, both ADSL and mobile have connection issues. Capped ADSL account of late has been useless, seems to be a trend with them. Swap ISP's and downloads/streaming/surfing immediately improve.

Fair enough.

Newcomers should stay the fk away from Afrihost/MTN. They only have their shareholders' interests at heart.

Last few months I've been plagued with Authentication, latency, packet loss and throughput issues when using my AH account. Other accounts run just fine.

Them managing my dsl line hasn't really given me any benefit whatsoever, so its getting moved back to telkom.
Capped account canceled.

Moving on...

This is my third time with Afrihost . Afrihost were OK as long as you don't need support . In case you need support everybody from the call center ,support , company rep on the forum are very problematic . Now the quality of the product deteriorated a lot as well so it is to move.

Interesting how the consensus so far shows Afrihost is obviously letting their clients down. How did they win the Best ISP of 2014 award??
