especially given they were awarded isp of the year.
i realize users here are probably significantly more demanding than the average, but thread after thread - and now this ??
and of course similar problems & complaints appear on other forums, hellopeter etc.

have no idea as to why visser was voted it person of the year, but the afrihost reps here are more than well deserving of their award.

Vox Telecom were voted best ISP and not Afrihost.

So I have to ask how is afrihost holding up the past few days? The free 1gb seems to be back to decent speeds(still has loads of packetloss tho)?

I am on a new isp and it all reeks of openweb (same is backbone/seems like it has similar kill your internet during the day shaping) starting to wonder if webafrica or telkom are my only two options left for semi decent performance.

I moved to a new ISP 2 months ago from Afrihost, haven't had a single issue since. After having to browse on my phone's 3G with Afrihost because my ADSL couldn't even load websites.

Why pay the full amount for months while you have issues? Just cancel and move somewhere else, get what are paying for. I supported AH for years but will never go back now

Awards can be bought. There are trophies for sale at a place around the corner which repairs shoes and copies keys.

I would not take these polls too serious. I mean its one of these polls that made AH the isp of 2014 :erm:

I actually am happy with the service over the last 6 months. I won't say much for the last few weeks, but it hasn't stopped our business, and I'm not that big into downloads. Mobile runs well when it needs to, and I'm not too fussy with the capped at home. Then again, my needs aren't very high. Just a few streaming issues here and there, otherwise it's alright. Would be nice to max out my 20Mbps line when I want to though.

Timeframe too long.
Was happy for 4-5 of those, unhappy right now. Cancellation is due end of this month, for eg. twitch buffering on low/medium quality -.- (4mb uncapped, 10mbps line).
Sadly, and I can't believe I'm even mentioning this: 2mbps Mweb basic uncapped account streams better. (Won't go back there though).

I was happy up to two weeks ago. Not a day has gone by since October where there was not an issue. And this is on a business uncapped account.

I still say it's exchange congestion problems that many city folk have.
I've been with Afrihost since 1st January and have had excellent results on my 4 mbit 100 Gig capped account.
I do about 80 gigs of mainly torrents every month and have never seen any derogation of any sort.

Except there are plenty examples of people who change their ISP account and their lines go back to normal speeds - in addition AH has admitted to "contention" on their network.
