Such a shame. Their capped account performance was always amazing.

Of late its pathetic. Poor speeds and shaped services...even though they advertise unshaped bandwidth for capped accounts.

interesting results so far
Really? I was expecting more dissatisfied customers :D None of my friends or family are with them anymore, after I got them to signup in the first place a few years ago.

i am fully aware many many people are unhappy with afrihost, both here and elsewhere.
not in my wildest dreams would i have guessed that out of 120 respondents (so far), only around 15% are satisfied & 85% are unsatisfied.

Voted with my wallet, left them last month.

This ^ is the only way to show dissatisfaction. As long as you are still paying the full amount for 10% of the product/service, the implication is that you will tolerate it.

I fully agree a lot can be achieved with taking the money away from them. What is amazing to me is that you will hear how sorry they are and in the very same breath they say "We think we are very good and we are the best ISP in SA". If you tell yourself you are the best and very good at what you do you don't need to improve anything.

I don't blame Afrihost, I blame MTN and Telkom.

Not quite... MTN and Telkom are not responsible for Afrihost's lack of forward planning and over-subscribription management... I doubt too that they have any insight into Afrihost's been-counter threshold graphs of user-outrage vs need-to-spend on bottleneck avoidance and IPC upgrades.

Afrihost again and again have proclaimed their Independence of MTN fiddling with Afrihost's network. Afrihost manages this, not MTN... or so they claim constantly.

Telkom perhaps may be blamed by all ISPs for its IPC costs to them... but not in Afrihost's case... this is a repeat of last year, and again earlier this year flusterkak of management and planning.

Strange how people want to blame Telkom and MTN?

When Im downloading at full line speed and my wife tries to skype (and doesnt work properly) I know its because there is no spare capacity... and Im just a simple home user.

Surely, a business such as Afrihost, would have the insight and planning to be able to monitor and cater for lack of bandwidth for the customers. Or at least see it coming and warn people we are going to have a rough patch?

Maybe Im just expecting too much...

I really hope Afrihost comes right and again offers the amazing service that I've enjoyed for the last two years. I can't hang around while things are diabolical though. Each day of poor quality streaming is painful.

//spock eyebrows*

quite fascinating, the results of this poll.

*both eyebrows

especially given they were awarded isp of the year.
i realize users here are probably significantly more demanding than the average, but thread after thread - and now this ??
and of course similar problems & complaints appear on other forums, hellopeter etc.

have no idea as to why visser was voted it person of the year, but the afrihost reps here are more than well deserving of their award.
