Afrihost slashes capped ADSL prices

It is, just check out the 100GB - there's an up and down arrow where you can select the higher data packages :)

i hate you! :p make the terabyte cheaper and ill buy that. bulk should definately be cheaper!

oh no man! thought this was prepaid. looking for a prepaid offer like this. i want to use it as i need. not a challenge to be used every month :( the search/wait continues

Prepaid is generally more expensive though, mostly because it does roll over. Our Prepaid options are available here if you're interested :) Otherwise it's always good fun having a challenge to use as much data as you possibly can in a month!

ja i dont quite understand the prepaid business model. i get that the ISP wont have the returning business but currently prepaid is so neglected and the prices are just plain ridiculous that one is forced in a way to go uncapped. which is a shame. ISP's are complaining about the data hogs but dont provide an alternative for users that dont do big numbers consistently.

lately my line has been quiet so in the future for me anyways uncapped will be unneccesary but with no decent prepaid options what alternatives do i have?

Not everyone is forced to go Uncapped, look at our new Capped data pricing on the article - they're really well priced :)
We've never complained about "bandwidth hogs" in fact - we encourage our Uncapped clients to truly have no limits and use as much bandwidth they'd like.

I highly suggest you check out our Capped DSL options :)

Hi AfriGuy,

I tried to sign up and everything goes well up to the point where the screen switches from your personal details to the payment details, an error message comes up (error 500), then you close the screen and try again. Same thing happens.

Please help.

That's a bit odd :(
Could you maybe try a different browser? If you're still having issues please drop me a PM.

That's the thing. Your 50gb for R199 appears to be a good deal but for R26 more I have 2mb uncapped. I will be monitoring my usage in the coming month to establish my needs. Your offer has me thinking though.

It's based on individual client needs. For you, there is more value in uncapped at a throttled speed. In my situation, 50GB will power my 8 person office for the whole month and allow me to smash all of the series \ movies which I require monthly at full line speed 24/7.

What is the ping for an afrihost account to the UK? And is it stable?

Not so great on a 2mps line get ping of 996 to the mtn server

Here is another one

Here is test from telkom wholesale speedtest

Last Result:
Download Speed: 375 kbps (46.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 177 kbps (22.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 896 ms

Only 50? How much series and movies is that then? I'm at work during the day so shaped doesn't bother me. Just need a working connection at night.

Hi guys

I just want to confirm how the new packages will work for existing clients.
If you stay on the same package the Rand value will be the same - and instead we're giving your more data to use within the month. If that makes sense?

It'll all be sent in a mail to everyone which will confirm the amount of data each client will receive :)
