I got a small glitch or something..My afri account is used up now.. but when I try to change it to my old axxess, it is not letting my do it. The google.com returns me an afrihost page saying dsl is capped. but i already changed the usr / pwd on my router!?

Reboot your router and PC.

I had the same problem when switching from capped MWEB to Axxess and Telkom.

Reboot router, and also do a ipconfig /flushdns from a command box.

Not so much " afrihost trouble.... " as "abuhajira router trouble...."

Just be a little more careful of misleading post titles...

Even clear your browser cache.

Had the same problem when I got capped with Nashua few months back.

If I wasnt going uncapped next month I would prob move to them.. they seem great!

Gulped a little when I saw this post title :)

Delighted to see all is OK!

And thanks for all the help gents

That is most definitely nothing to do with Afrihost but rather your router. Check that the username and password were updated after you clicked saved and also remember to reboot the router after the change (but remember to save).

I think you should be shot for taking a hit at afrihost!! Afrihost is our friend

hahaha every1 was like, "oh sh*t, it really WAS too good 2 b tru..." :)

FALSE ALARM PPL, AFRIHOST STILL RULE

Actually, I have to disagree.

Afrihost should be ashamed of themselves.

This morning I ran out of bandwidth so I decided to try Afrihost to see how they worked. Normally I top up with Axxess and never have any problems. I bought 2 GB pre-paid using my credit card. The transaction went through with no problems and I was told to check my email for further instructions. The email arrived and provided login details.

However, I kept on getting "authentication failed..." error messages from my router. I SMSed help to the number provided (still waiting for a call back).

In the meantime, I switched back to my Telkom account (now capped) and decided to log into the Afrihost client zone. When I check my bandwidth in the clientzone, it shows in a big red block "Verification Required! We have to verify your identity on this account before it can be activated:"

WTF! At no stage during the purchase stage did Afrihost alert me that this was a requirement for pre-paid purchases using a credit card. This was never a requirement with Axxess. If I had known this, I would never have proceeded with the transaction. I understand that this is necessary for ongoing debit orders, but for a once off credit card purchase, it is rediculous! I have never had to provide this for any of my online purchases in all the years that I have used the internet. And this is Sunday, there is no way that I can fax a copy of my ID to their offices. (Not from where I live).

Now, I appreciate that Afrihost has been generous in offering a limited time offer of R29/GB, but this experience leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Like some of Cybersmart's T&C's, this is a poor business practice.

i found the debit orders to be EXTREMELY stupid!! i mean i bought bandwidth a few days ago and thought the debit order had gone through so i bought on the card and realised only today that there was too little money in the card for the debit order so it bounced, i would have preferred to transfer money into their account rather...
