Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Status
Not open for further replies.
So, it's now been over 2 weeks since I asked Afrihost to adjust my ADSL line speed, and so far still nothing has happened.

Web browsing is still a joke, 360p Youtube videos don't play with lots of buffering and downloads are of course still a joke. This has been going on for months.

To top it off, Afrihost spammed me again last night, after I had explicitly requested that they stop spamming me *and* I had disabled all the spam options in their Clientzone. Afriman, for the love of all things that are good, take me off your spam lists NOW.

Unfortunately that's completely consistent with what I'm experiencing - except my international speeds are much, much worse than yours.

There are quite a few people posting about International Bandwidth on Uncapped Accounts. I switch to any other provider (including Afrihost Capped) it goes full line speed, but switch to Afrihost Uncapped and it's really, really poor.

Was this the Mobile Data pre-order email? We can remove you. Just be aware that if we do you will not be able to claim the exclusive pre-order offer, becuase it's linked to the email.

Drop me a PM to confirm :(

AfriMan do i just sign up for a bundle instead of my non-bundle business dl package?

Other than that i dont see how i can add my DSL line to my package

Critial Care has instructed me to do more speed tests (I feel like we've established what's slow and what isn't, but I'll oblidge)

To sum the above up, all local bandwidth fast across all accounts. All International Bandwidth fast, apart from the Afrihost Uncapped Accounts. Afrihost Uncapped must be the issue here.

Thanks for running these extensive tests. I know that Critical Care are also testing on their side, so this feedback will really help us find the issue :)

Btw Afriman.

Got about 10 people here from my work that's keen on your mobile offering. Told them all to hold the horses on signing other contracts. Showed them your offering and they want to know where to sign :D

So hurry that beta the hell up okay

LOL, the full commercial launch is on the 3rd of September, so they definitely won't be waiting long :)

I am lately getting strange movements especially during the day.

My ping will goto 2000ms and then go back to normal and sometimes pictures won't load either.

Hey Afriman

I was just wondering if you could clarify something for me... How will the pre-order work?

Will we just be able to sign into our Afrihost Clientzone account and add the service to the account, or will we have to sign an entirely different 'Mobile' form?

Also, I hope the first 1000 people will get to reserve their spots, even if they dont fill out the form before others.. if that makes sense?

I'm sorry, Afriman, but I fail to see what is ambiguous about "do not spam me" or how it can be misunderstood. Just stop spamming me. Thanks.

On an unrelated note, Afrihost reaches a new low today: It took my browser 45 seconds to fetch a 500kB JPEG image for an average speed of 11kB/s, or roughly 1/20th of what it should have been.

1) Afrihost's network seems to be fine. Your isolated incident of slow speed means nothing without more information, a speed test and a trace route.

2) I'm signed up for all of Afrihost's email communications and it definitely does not constitute spam. They don't arrive often, and when they do it's to inform me of developments on the network or a competition.

3) Stop being a jerk.

They're actually one of the companies that don't send too much crap email, and usually it's informative.

Plenty of people are experiencing the same. If you had in any way at all been following the conversation, you'd have seen plenty of speed test and trace route results posted - but I guess you just want to post some **** and feel superior about it somehow.

And I didn't sign up for anything, and I opted out from the things Afrihost signed me up for without my consent, and I have in email replies and to Afriman made it perfectly clear that I do not wish to receive spam - what is your point?

3) Stop being a jerk.

Riiiiiiight back at you.

Riiiiiiight back at you.

I just checked your last few posts in this thread and it appears that you've convinced yourself that your experience reflects that of others on Afrihost. Stop badmouthing Afrihost and fix your issues. Afriman exists on MyBB as a courtesy service - he'll do what he can for any Afrihost related issue, but if you're having serious connectivity problems why not just pick up the phone and have it sorted out much faster?

I've had seriously poor Afrihost connectivity on three occasions. First time Telkom replaced a section of faulty cable in my property, second time Telkom repaired a damaged pole near my property and third time Telkom replaced the filter on my line. S**t happens. Just help Afrihost help you.
