Can someone test if they can download google chrome?? I don't know if it's Afrihost or what, but my download doesn't even want to start and if it does it says 10 hours remaining..

This is a bit strange, is your account shaped at all? Even when shaping is applied - the download should still work.

Wow i now saw in realtime how harsh afrihost is shaping usenet. It was going at 14kbps (basically nothing) the last 2 days and i decided to check out this turboboost thing....bam full speed on activation (4mbps) . My console shows i was only 12% shaped downl/p2p.

Sorry about this, I know it isn't ideal :(
We are looking at adding additional capacity which should take away most of the shaping queries we're seeing at the moment. We don't have an ETA on this just yet but this will happen soon.

What I cannot understand is the fact that the more we said AH had capacity issues you guys kept on denying it. To me that was not very truth full therefore I will never join Ah, also canceled my capped accounts as i thought we were not being told the truth from the beginning.

Assistance please. I bought a Netgear N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem router from Telkom. After following the installation setup exactly as shown, the internet light is still not working. Error message is indicating no network adapter, although it's connected to the ethernet port on the laptop. I've tried on another laptop, same problem. How to troubleshoot this?

And we do understand that, we ordered the capacity after we saw the increase in demand.
We've needed to investigate each and every shaping query brought up. By adding more capacity we'll be able to deliver a better overall experience to all of our clients.

I still don't think that we lied to you - we have a lot of things to look into.

Heya :)

I'd like to have a look at this for you, if all of the settings are correct you shouldn't have an issue connecting up.
Drop me a PM.

Ok. I missed some posts the last couple of days. Is it now confirmed that it is a capacity issue? If the ETA is more than 6 months (AH account pausing limit), I might as well cancel my account asap, because it's not going to get better between now and X.

We aren't having a capacity issue, our demand has increased and we saw this. We investigated every possible angle here too.
We don't have an ETA yet, I honestly doubt it'll be 6 months - we're waiting for Telkom to confirm the IPC upgrades and has the full support of both our and MTNs directors.

A very interesting response from on my support request.

Due to the congestion at the exchange there are only 14% of port
availability thus resulting in the low speeds you are experiencing.

Also we are currently experiencing unusually high latency on our DSL network.
We are working on this matter urgently to bring services back to normal levels. Affected clients may experience slow throughput, and issues affecting real time services. We are addressing this as top priority, and we sincerely apologize to affected clients.

We thank you for patience during this period.

Our Network Engineers are noticing increased latency on our DSL network.
We are currently investigating this and do not currently have an official report on the cause.
This may affect real time services which depend on low latency such as gaming.
At present we believe that general DSL service will still remain close to normal levels.
