AFriGuy, any updates on International being slow for the last two weeks for a percentage of users? Sent a truckload of Speedtests and Tracerts to Critical Care - really hoping for a resolution now.

AfriCoalition, since we're launching new stuff and giving away freebies, how's about bribing ICASA and the courts for LLU and bringing us some FTTH? Mobile broadband is already eating too much into wired's territory if you ask me..

I'm aware of your escalation, I'll make an urgent follow up with our teams and see where we are. Sorry about all of the delays :(

Please do not forward this email to anyone else. If you do, they will be able to click the link and sign up products on your ClientZone profile, which you will be charged for.
And yet you guys decided to send this info through email - a completely insecure protocol?!?

Not appreciated given that it has one of my credit cards link to that profile.

Sorry for sounding completely fanboy-ish and off-topic, but seriously. I've never come across a company that takes customer care to such a high level as AfriHost does. I've always been able to resolve any queries within minutes either through the ClientZone support or MyBB. Thanks AfriMan/Guy/Girl/Platypus :p for being #1. Salute!

Agreed. They do tend to be on top of things.

Not perfect, but definitely a contender for the top spot. And frankly on mybb an ISP rep that prevails long term deserves respect. Hell hath no furry like a mybb crowd pissed about an underperforming ISP, so most reps tend to evaporate sooner or later. AH and OW seem to do better in this regard than other ISPs.

The link does not give any personal details out. The only thing people can do is view the last four digits of your card number. Also, what would they do... add an extra service to your account?

We have to weigh up many factors when we design these promotions. Ease of use, security, etc, and generally we have to find the path the satisfies the most criteria. We felt that by warning you not to forward the mail, there would be no reason for your security to be compromised. The invitation to friends was separate process, so there was no danger in that. We never email banking information, though when signing up a product, we must display a portion of the relevant details (with most digits hashed out) in order for you to reasonably use the functionality.

We're always reviewing our security measures and no doubt these will change over time as industry best practices improve.

The problem here is that emails are sent in plain text, and anyone in the path between you and the recipient can read the email and snatch the info.

I must admit that I was quite put off by the warning, but at least I wasn't able to get access to the client zone without logging in using that link, so it seems like the warning was a bit overkill.

I'm in the same boat. :erm:

EDIT: Ah, nevermind that. Checked the billing and saw that the account is in good order. :) I can't wait for the 3rd!

I do have a question regarding the RICA process. What if you're sharing a house/apartment and you don't have any utility bills in your name, but in the name of the owner?

AfriMan, i am tired of the throttling or shaping on my 2mbps uncapped bundle. It has been so for weeks now and seems to be a 24/7 situation. The impression i got from one of your support guys was that it was normal for Cape Town, and perhaps I should upgrade to the business account for R100 more, i.e. R597 p.m.

I'd rather change over to a capped account if that will sort out my hassles. I see your 2mbps + 75gb capped bundle deal is R497 p.m. same price as your 2mbps uncapped bundle.

If i change over to a capped account will my throttling/shaping woes be resolved?

edit: I experience this with Youtube and NNTP downloads. Will drop u a PM.

There is no throttling on any of our DSL, but the Home Uncapped Product is shaped from time to time depending on capacity. I'm not sure what you are experiencing that is causing the woe. If it's real time streaming or gaming, then it would not be due to shaping, and you may find your experience will continue on another product. If it's torrents and downloads, then a capped product is probably more suitable.

Drop me a PM and lets discuss :)
