AfriMan, i am tired of the throttling or shaping on my 2mbps uncapped bundle. It has been so for weeks now and seems to be a 24/7 situation. The impression i got from one of your support guys was that it was normal for Cape Town, and perhaps I should upgrade to the business account for R100 more, i.e. R597 p.m.

I'd rather change over to a capped account if that will sort out my hassles. I see your 2mbps + 75gb capped bundle deal is R497 p.m. same price as your 2mbps uncapped bundle.

If i change over to a capped account will my throttling/shaping woes be resolved?

I just upgraded to the same bundle. Just waiting for them to bump the speed.

I'm hoping that my good torrent speeds on 1mb is doubled on 2mb. What I'm more interested in, is Youtube buffering less.

no biggy but currently I can't access Turbocharge at the moment.
going into clientzone and clicking on package get to press turbo charge and a Yellow Box: An error has occX (I am assuming the text jumbles together)

I am assuming its going to have to go on the to do list for post mobile preorder fix ups. You know after getting a dog (and IPConnect in PE :))

Hey Afriman

Is the Joburg area being shaped? Its first time in ages that I've found my download speeds and ping to be really slow. It started at about 12pm, and it still seems to be going. I'm only getting 20kbps from my 4meg uncapped DSL account.

I checked clientzone, and it says 100% realtime speed. So I'm guessing I shouldn't be so slow?

I experience this with Youtube and NNTP downloads. I have noticed the youtube buffering on my iPad 2 to be atrocious the last 2 months. Yes, this could be due to my iPad 2 but I'm not sure how to pin point the problem. The irritating thing with the iPad, or perhaps it is a setting on the Youtube side, is that if it detects that your line speed is slow, then it downgrades the video quality to 144p.

Got your PM about this, and will get our guys onto some testing ASAP :(

Having problems with the Afrihost DNS. Changed to Google's DNS and everything seems to be running smoothly again. Anyone else?

We haven't seen any other reports of this. If you're still having difficulty with our DNS drop me a PM with your details and I'll check it out for you.

Question on the 5GB promo.

So I got the email that said my mobile account was ready to use.

Now say I had a phone with an MTN sim, I could use force the phone to use the data from the 5GB bundle by just changing the APN, is that correct?

Hey guys

Just a heads up, Telkom have reported a fairly wide-spread outage in and around the Durban area. No ETR at this stage.

Sorry Afrihost but I've cancelled my 20Mbit uncapped service with you for now. I have however still got plenty of other services with you :)

I miss my IS based account too much, the AH account was good but speeds fluctuate quite a bit during "entertainment" hours (6pm till 11pm). I would go for the business account but that's really out of my budget.

I would however recommend this account to somebody that is looking for good speeds any time of the day, it may fluctuate a little but overall it's still pretty good. The IS accounts suffer a bit during the day but are a pleasure to use after hours - the main reason I'm switching back.

We're sorry to see you go :(
Our account shouldn't be fluctuating a lot - while our Home Uncapped accounts are indeed shaped you should only see P2P (non-essential protocols).

Could you please send me a PM with your account info and I'll have our a look for you.
