Can someone tell me how the afrihost news server runs during the day and evening?
It's great late at night, usually get full speed (4mb) between 12-7am which is when I schedule most downloads. The odd download during the day has also been full speed. So I'd say it's really great if you schedule your downloads for quiet times. I haven't downloaded enough during the daytime to accurately comment on it.

Cool - it seems that it's a risk I must be willing to take - I guess I can just migrate my line back if there are any issues. A few last things - I will sign up for the uncapped account on the 1st of September, what is the billing cycle for Afrihost? Next up, if I am unhappy and do want to cancel, I have 60 days in which to do so & don't have to serve a notice period right? I can just cancel and move on if I want?

Another prodigal son returns home to Afrihost - the people who originally freed the web IMO :p

You can migrate it back, but if there are any issues that crop up we'd like to have them fixed - even if this means altering our processes in improve our efficiency.
Our Billing runs on pro-rata, if you do wish to cancel initially there's a 60 day, double your money back that we can process for you.

Thereafter, you have to cancel before the 25th of every month in order for it to take effect by the 30th.

AfriMan. How do I move from an Uncapped 4mbps bundle to a 100GB Capped bundle? (It's priced exactly the same so should be little to no issue? Or am I wrong..)

You can just Edit your package via ClientZone2.0 :) It'll take effect on the 1st September if you do the change over now.

Please see the attached image. Is this the package I should select? Why is the price listed as R790.00 there, when the bundle is actually R697.00?

Sorry, looks like you'll need to unbundle your package first - then change over packages.
Drop me a PM if you get stuck :)

Eish, that sucks. Will it then involve the whole tedious process again? Requesting a transfer from Telkom, waiting a week, etc? How will the billing work with this?

Unbundle, rebundle, 5 mins.

EDIT: Their billing has always been top notch! Normally prorata, but uncapped to capped will only effect month end to my understanding.

Hope this helps :)

 my uncapped account isn't working and I am having to use my MiFi data

Can you guys please get this fixed. I assume you will have to deal with a third party provider of an essential service - electricity?

Okay as per requested I have run the test on an additional AH capped account. I didn't have too many issues with Afrihost this time around but if I'm told that I'm not shaped then I expect no shaping. This, in my case, is just not true.

Here are some additional speed tests to a local ftp server.

Cybersmart capped account (control):

Afrihost capped account:

Afrihost Uncapped (20Mbps):

Both the AH capped and uncapped accounts are clearly being shaped for me. I specifically chose to use a local download server as to eliminate international bandwidth constraints.

I don't mind being shaped, just don't tell me I'm not being shaped when I am. This may have a lot to do with location, maybe somebody in the north could do a similar test to see if this is the case.

Not sure if shaping is to blame here, I'm sure there are underlaying issues here.
Please drop me a PM with your account details and I'll have our team check things out with you.
