Hi Afriman,

I thought Afrihost would be more interested in keeping a client who uses several of your services: hosting, Telkom adsl line and adsl data account. Doesn't seem to be the case, I had submitted at the beginning of August a cancellation request for the Telkom ADSL line managed by Afrihost, but then cancelled the request and received an e-mail confirmation. Now suddenly I received an email saying that my adsl account had been cancelled as requested. I enquired and was told that my line was still with Afrihost but my data account had been cancelled. I asked why on earth would I want to keep my line with you if it wasn't to use my data account, and asked if they could restore the data account with immediate effect, otherwise I would proceed to cancel everything as I was angry about this issue. I was told it could not be done, so I just submitted a cancellation to all my Afrihost services as I expected a better treatment.

Truly sorry about this, sounds like we really botched this good and proper :(

Once you hit the re-instate button, you should not have to worry about any cancellation procedure. I'm not sure what has transpired here, but I'm sure this can be fixed without you having to cancel all your services.

Please drop me a PM, give me a chance to make this right again :(

Every single person can get a Free 1GB account for life. All you will need is an ADSL line... but you should have that through MWEB/Telkom at the moment (based on your post)

Free GB

We don't offer tests accounts. You can either sign up for a Free GB account for life (just sign up for a 1GB Capped DSL account for R0.00) or you can PM me for a discount link to sign up any DSL account (not line or bundle) and get 50% off your first month.

Let me know what you'd like to try :)

Wow, just switched over to my new Afrihost Uncapped account this morning - its just so much more snappier than Mweb account! Flash Streaming & Youtube performance is better & overall every page is loading that much quicker - even pages like Uberhumor!

As for Torrents, well its the weekend but a well seeded UFC torrent is going at about 95-99kb/s - which is great! Lets see what happens during the week but yeah so far so good.

Quite regretting our move to AfriHost to be honest. We've had nothing but trouble so far.

On Thursday morning we were told that our 10MB service would be active within 48 hours. On Saturday we contacted AfriHost who then said that there was an error processing the upgrade and that it was done incorrectly, so we should wait another 24 hours for it to become active.

Yesterday we received an SMS stating that our 10MB service is now active and we've been invoiced, but we were pulling at 0.5Mbps and the line was only syncing at 4MB. We contacted customer service who then told us that we actually can't get 10MB because Telkom have supposedly limited our exchange to 4MB. Why, then, were were able to sign up for 10MB in the first place? And why does the Telkom, AfriHost and all other ISP speed checkers we've tested say that we're 10MB capable?

To add to the equation, my house mate worked at an ISP until the end of this month that just ended and was able to test our line capability himself. He said that we're able to get 10MB and we're 20MB VDSL capable as well. So I'm not sure who to believe?

Anyway, now we're paying for a 10MB service, syncing at 4MB and pulling at less than 1MB. Which is even more useless to us because we're still in our MWeb notice period so we can use their 1MB account for the rest of this month, which is performing a lot better as well.

Really leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.

If you want to see your max speed, your router should be able to tell you what it's syncing up to. My router syncs around 8000 (7 to 8Mbps). Also be aware of the noise on your router.

So can also check out your what afrihost sees your sync rate if you have your DSL with afrihost.

Tomorrow it's been 2 weeks since I asked to have my line moved to Afrihost. It's still in a pending state, and all I get told is that I need to wait.

Unfortunately that is the case when dealing with Telkom.

I waited 13 business days's before Telkom had their act together. All you can unfortunately do is wait for them to finish their work.

We're really sorry that we've dropped the ball here :( A line upgrade should be a fairly straight forward process should there be no external factors.
Please PM me your account info and I'll take a look into your account for you.

A line transfer usually does take 2 weeks, give or take. We can't really give you an exact time frame as the move over is a little out of our hands.
PM me though, I'll see what I can do :)

Sure thing, drop me a PM with your line number and I'll run a quick check for you. Your router sync stats should also display your stats, and if your line is with us ClientZone2 will also give you this info.

AfriDog is still in training, getting to know the ropes ;)
