What I am worried about (and my line is not even active yet) is that if everyones line gets upgraged then surely that puts more people on higher speed lines.

so say there were 100 people on 4 meg and 100 on 10 meg then when this takes effect there will be 200 on 10meg thus slowing the overall performance down for those who were subscribed to the 10 meg. I would not be happy about that. Happy about the increases though...

While this can be seen as a concern, we're constantly monitoring our network for trends - and if a noted increase in clients and speed we'll make the right calls to make sure we provide our clients with the best experiences :)

As always thank you for a speedie answer, no one can fault Afrihost on speedie customer service! So far I am VERY happy that I chose Afrihost and I do not even have my line activated yet :)

A friend of mine has been struggling for 2 days trying to get an answer out of Mweb on the difference between premium and normal accounts as he is being shaped badly.

Oh God no!! Looks like everyone will have to download another upgrade :( There's goes the bandwidth again.

Embarrassing discovery comes within hours of release of new software and exploits Control Center feature to hack into photos, texts and Facebook content

Apple says it will fix an embarrassing security flaw on its new iOS 7 software which hackers showed can bypass the lockscreen and access personal data.

The flaw, discovered within hours of iOS 7 becoming publicly available, can be exploited on the iPhone 4S and 5 and gives access to personal data including email, photos, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr. It is exploited via the Control Center function, which is found by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. That offers access to the phone user's alarms, a calculator, and the camera, as well as frequently-used settings such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Airplane mode.

It appears not to work on the iPhone 5S and 5C.

Sorry I'm giving you a hard time....it's just that I had my tonsils removed and I'm at home for 10 days....mmmm my luck...

On the other hand....Telkom ups the line speeds so you guys have to buy more IP connect.

Smart move telkom.....smart move ;)

No worries, I know it's annoying :( And when in doubt, it's always fun giving the rep a hard time eh ;)
On a slightly more positive note the overall traffic is looking better than yesterday. While you're at home you can update all of your apps, then we can blame you :p

Ah yes, the old Linux Distros :)

If you had an iPhone, you could spend some time enjoying iTunes Radio - which is surprisingly awesome IMHO ;)

Is that the only thing you like on iOS7 though? ;)
I'm battling to find nice things...

Any updates on the shaping situation?

We are still shaping pretty aggressively to control demand. Once we see that usage is looking normal again, we'll start opening up capacity again. For now, our priority is protect latency and throughput on priority services for all clients.

We're definitely seeing a great improvement. If you're services are not relatively normal, there may be other day to day DSL issues also contributing, so drop me or Afriguy a PM :)

Thanks man! :)

Everything is running great, was just wondering.

Folks, let not kid ourselves any longer....the current shaping will apply until 01 October, only then will be lifted, until around the middle of October or say maybe the 20th when it will be applied again...for the whole week we have been hearing that the traffic is calming down and that we should be seeing improvements. Well not on my side, permanently shaped on p2p @ 6.25% on AH:cry: at least real time services work fine, which I suppose is better than other isp`s
