Streaming services netflix and amazon instant...
It used to play fine, now doesn't even play let alone buffer..
And your call center just doesn't answer
In my experience over the last few weeks TeamViewer does indeed get shaped.@Afriman, I currently have the following shaping policy in effect: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P
Please advise how this will affect a TeamViewer session. Is TeamViewer tagged as realtime?
TIA
Having the exact same issue! Netflix is unusable the last 2 weeks.
Afrihost, please fix!
Something is happening.
75% Download/ 75% P2P
Also, the untrusted website error I reported earlier is fixed. Maybe they found the black hole where all the bandwidth went into?

Please drop me a PM with your username and some more info. I'll get one of our people on this ASAP![]()
Clarification, please. Total time connected to which server, doing what? What should I be disconnected from when, to not see daytime shaping I'd view being completely out of whack with my usage patterns?
Also, 25/12.5... yay...
What I'm saying is that, for example, if you connect for an hour, max your line to get as much bandwidth as possible, and then disconnect to use another account, that username will only be analysed based on the time connected. So someone connected for two days and using the same amount of bandwidth as someone who did the same in 2 hours will de different. So even though they may have the same total over two days, we analyse the usage pattern as accurately as we can to decide which shaping policy will reduce demand the most to match to the available capacity.
I wish it were that simple. But we are seeing better shaping today, so let's hope it stays that way
Maybe all the torrenters are at rAge today![]()

as with what Haptic said...
Does the shaping policy / system scale as per after hours?
So say someone were to only download between say 10pm and 5am. would that time frame be considered lesser than the same amount of time and data used during peak? would this result in a smaller percentage of shapping (if none at all) being applied later on?
Also what sort of timeframe is used whether a user be shaped? last 24h of usage? last month of usage?
just curious![]()
At the moment not, because we don't have any time based shaping we look at the network as a full 24 hour period. We may need to review that because we do want to strongly encourage clients to make use of the available capacity in off peak hours. There can be up to 7-8 hours of minimal bandwidth consumption and shaping, say after midnight, and the more we can utilise the network, the more we can motivate for better pricing and additional capacity. For now though, there is nothing like that in place.
In-line with this question. would it be possible to have a realtime widget/meter on the afrihost website to show overall network load? I think that would make Uncapped users happier as they can actually see that there is some load on the network.
