Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Have a feeling my router is acting up... having DNS issues again :(

cant use afrihosts DNS settings or googles DNS servers :/ just doesn't resolve host names. but I can ping DNS servers fine. busy running off my mobile data :(

The account and billing runs from the time you activate, so you can sign up whenever you'd like :)

Sounds strange indeed, we aren't seeing any general problems in terms of DNS on our end.
When you set to automatically assign, which DNS servers are you getting from us?

I had a similar issue awhile back, and Afrihost's helpdesk told me to disable automatic dns, and to use these addresses:

Primary DNS: 196.7.7.7
Secondary DNS: 196.7.8.9

It may be old information, but it works for me. Give it a try.

196.7.7.7 with 8.8.8.8 as a secondary :/

Thanks but I have assigned both 196.7.7.7 and 8.8.8.8 as DNS servers manually and both end up in names not resolving :( i highly doubt adding 196.7.8.9 to the mix would make it any different... this has been happening a lot lately but all i would do is switch between the DNS servers and it would work... now none do. also been having a lot of dropped connections. Line seems fine so im going with the router needing to be replaced :(
 
WOOP WOOP! got an old Billion router working (that I was given not so long ago).

It wouldn't sync at all. did a firmware update and its working 100% :D

So in retrospect, all home account could only use realtime services, all other services where non existent, strange, thought some guys said those services where just extremely slow
