Thanks for the confirmation nut123, tired of trying all possible things to get it fixed by myself. Been doing a speedtest for the last 12 minutes and its still not complete... ping 1665ms download speed 2kbs.

Southern Suburbs are known for congested exchanges. Use to have 1000+ ping in Rondebosch. Luckily I moved closer to town.

I don't want to give you an unconfirmed answer - especially with Telkom being full committed to exchange and line upgrades at the moment. Although they should be separate divisions of Telkom, hopefully this will not impact our order.

For the sake of not creating a false expectation - I'd rather only impart confirmed information and not my personal guesses :(

Can we get a timeline as to when we can expect a timeline?

Kinda important as it will affect some decision making down the line...

Telkom, unbelievable! Incredulous that they can announce free bandwidth upgrades, yet not have the infrastructure in place to support this :wtf:

Then again given their history, I suppose it's not all that unbelievable now, is it?

What area code would that be? I don't see any Telkom outages listed on the (021) prefix at the moment :(

They are doing some backhaul upgrades as far as I know - though I couldn't say if every exchange will be upgraded. remember that the line upgrades are going to continue well into next year. Would be great if they did backhaul first though :)

Yup...here we go again. 5pm and my line goes to hell in a hand basket.
Speed tests done within 40min of each other and LOOK AT THAT DIFFERENCE. Tracert is perfect. Cannot youtube to save my life.

ARGH!

@Afriteam...what more do you guys need to escalate this issue. Something is broken somewhere when 17:00 rolls around. This is @$(&@($%

Afriman - please ask management to take the first step in this initiative. I know it might be argued that students from Sinenjongo High School might not be using Afrihost Mobile due to the need to call/sms, it is still a great way to show your support to a great initiative.

(I know this isn't really relevant to Uncapped, but I thought it might get the most attention here :P )

@ Orihalcon, I feel your pain, my speed is so bad now I cant even send a support ticket through Afrihosts own site because there is not enough bandwidth to load the whole support ticket page.

Have you PM'ed us your details yet?

Of course. Along with the Telkom reference number for the fault Telkom logged.

Telkom keeps saying it is not congestion - which I agree with as the pings are perfect - but there sure as HELL is a problem in my dslam and or exchange for my performance to drop like this at a specific time each and every day. I swear my dslam is rate limited to reduce strain on it. Someone is feeding me BS pie and I don't like the taste...

I don't seem to have a PM from you, did you perhaps PM AfriMan?

Indeed I did. Have been battling with this issue for weeks with him. He has all the needed info.

Side note - youtube useless for anything except 144p. :( Ai.

I'll chase this up with him, I'm sure he's doing everything he can on his side.

Hello, AfriMan, AfriGuy and other Afri* family! :)
Lately I become Afrihost client and immediately dropped into trouble with low speed. But support guys said they "resolve latency issues" while you say here (as I understood) "we're overloaded and waiting for bandwidth increase". Who I should trust? :)
One more thing: all that cap/uncap/busines/f*kizness - just a way to get more money from the same copper and I don't think it's fair "let's uncapped users suck because business users pay more". WE ALL deserve to get what we paid for! If I chose "unlim 1 Mbit", I pay full amount for real uncapped service with 1Mbit speed. But unlike money, real bytes go way slower than I paid for. It's unfair and package should declare straight: "we shape you till 10% of bandwidth in favor of our fat cats". Next...
