No free Turbocharge minutes left, as I used them earlier to complete things that needed completing. I'll switch to the capped account and test again as soon as AfriMan has checked my account.
 
No shaping so far, but speeds are dropping badly compared to my test done at about 11:00.

Why would you be experiencing different shaping to other users in the south? (Could you post your usage stats please?)

I'm assuming that your usage has been low these last few weeks due to high contention, so would expect you to be labeled a low usage user and shaped last like they claim.

For example, Romark (sorry for mentioning you, hope your account doesn't get cancelled ;)) is reporting zero shaping in his clientzone (Could you post your usage stats aswell please?).

So this tells me that nothing has changed?

What were your speeds like on a normal weekend in the past?
 
@wingnut771, I've only used 10GB this month, so definitely not that. I am apparently in the wrong shaping group, according to AfriMan, and he says Afrihost is busy sorting it out. I'll keep everyone posted.

Speeds have dropped quite a bit compared to 11:00 this morning.
Still no shaping indicated in CZ.
Added 1.1GB to my usage since this morning and a total for month is 40.8GB.

The last 3 months I was shaped to 18.8% http and that resulted in about 75 kB/s
P2P was shaped to 6.25% and that gave me 13 kB/s.
So that is overall a big improvement.

Unfortunately I do not have a saved Zertop Diagnostics test which I use to compare.

If you've only used 10GB, you should definitely be on a "lite" shaping style! I know AfriMan will sort it out though :)

Please post the REASON as to why you're in the "wrong" group when you find out, assuming you have been connected to your account the whole time, as apparently, if you log out, the shaper then pauses your session, and only resumes your data logging when you log back in and move data.
 
Also noticing a huge slow-down in the last 40 minutes, even though CZ says no shaping.
Looks like come Tuesday, we will all be b****ing again :p

SSH/SFTP down from 998kB/s to 200kB/s per connection. If I add additional files (simultaneous downloads), then I max out at 800kB/s :(

I think that's exactly what it is. I most certainly haven't been using my Afrihost account, with all this shaping. I still have an uncapped MWEB account that I kept when I moved (fortunately), so I've been using that and it's been running at full speed. Afriman did tell me to move some data, which I'm busy doing. Hopefully that sorts this all out.

Seeing that you're in the "no shaping is applied" status and reporting slower than line speeds, do your p2p speeds equal your speedtests?

If they do, then, I would blame this on contention, like what was/is/who knows is happening on business and capped, in which case, I would expect "shaping" to return as they "tweak" the network.

Learnt your lesson yet?

If that's the case, it will be very interesting to see how long the shaper takes to correct itself, but judging from others', I wouldn't hold my breath, as others are reporting "no shaping" but are still seeing unsatisfactory results.

Happy with the performance.

Hope it can last during office ours and till full IPC capacity is added.

I have now done 43.2GB and no shaping applied.

After moving some data I now have no shaping in my ClientZone, but my torrents are averaging about 60kB/s on my 2MB line. Turbocharge makes them average around 120kB/s.

Edit: Speeds are now close to what they should be. I'll update again if things change. Nice being able to download again after all this time. Hopefully things remain this way.

I still don't understand what happened with the IPC upgrade, so if someone could explain, that'd be great.

Do you mean what went wrong with your account during the IPC upgrade or with the IPC upgrade itself?

I read somewhere that Afriman said that the South and East each received about 20% IPC upgrade
So it is still not the full capacity they ordered.

Found the post.

So at the moment:

South has been provisionally upgraded with about 20% more capacity - and we're seeing general improvement in Business and Capped performance, as well as shaping. We'll know more when everyone comes back from work and we see the general peak demand on the network. Additional upgrades are still pending for the network.

East has also been upgraded, I estimate it's also around 20 to 22% increase in capacity for new capacity, which is quite a bit for the East which is also our smallest network at the moment.

So for now, we still awaiting a further upgrade for the North (not ETA for now) and an additional upgrade for the South. That's pretty much my understanding at this stage
