Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

@Afriguy, do you have any idea when the capacity upgrades will be complete?

I remember this question being raised many times before the Jhb upgrade, with lots of promises when we know you will know promises.

Next thing there were network problems one day (more than usual) and people were moaning again on the forums. Suddenly, everything comes right. The next morning came the big surprise that the IPC was upgraded. I tell you, Afriman sounded as surprised as we were.

So, moral of the story is that back then, there was no ETA's/timelines etc given, just promises of soon soon soon, so don't hold your breath getting one now out of AH.

Due to another sister company under different management, who had the courage, has given a 3 week estimate for the upgrades to be completed.

We have received reports of increased latency for clients in the South Region (Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and other areas routing though our South Network). Affected clients may receive slow response from internet services. Our network engineers are investigating urgently, and we will post further updates as soon as we receive feedback. We apologise for any inconvenience affected clients may be experiencing.

The latency looks to be normalising in the South region. Our team is keeping an eye on things.
I'll run through as many posts as soon as I can guys :)

Hi AfriMan,
If I change to a capped account would my performance improve for NNTP and torrents? Or are capped accounts screwed too?

I'm on 4Mbps uncapped, with 45.3GB this month and I am shaped 18.8 % Download and 6.25% P2P. Afrihost, time to get your capacity sorted, as the people who pay the most, seems to get the worst deal.

AFAIK - Capped and Business accounts will improve your performance. If you opt for the business route, change the protocol prioritasation option to deactivated for your needs.

I personally am on the busiiness uncapped and I am just flying at the moment ... (Hope I dont jinx this now :D)

Same thing, Shaping Policy: 18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P, so disappointed

I cant take it anymore, the shaping is just unacceptable..How does mweb's premium compare, anyone have an idea of average use on a 4mb line before throttling takes place?
