Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Already paused my AH uncapped service. Will probably cancel if I find another ISP with decent speeds.
 
They do exist. All depends on your budget.

Well, at the moment 10MB Uncapped is what? R897? I tried changing it to AH business uncapped last night which is R997 or something. It failed. So I decided it's probably time to look for something else. :)

Well I contacted Afrihost to find out about this ridiculous 24/7 shaping. After waiting 30 minutes to finally speak to someone, I was told that all uncapped accounts are shaped, but are 'working as intended'.

I told them that I don't expect this level of service for the amount I pay for an 4-meg uncapped. I was then told that if I don't like the shaping, I should 'just' get a business account. I wasn't willing to fork out an extra R200 on an account that seems to get shaped from time to time (I've been following the business uncapped thread for a while now). I was then told that my only other option would to get capped, which I'm not really interested in. I then threatened to leave, and the support just told me to cancel my account before the 25th of the month.

I am very disappointed with Afrihost. They made no attempt to try and keep me as a client. I seem to not be worth the effort. I expected better from the 'ISP of the Year".

One final note. I get the distinct impression that Afrihost is trying to get their clients to move away from the Home Uncapped accounts, and towards the more expensive business account or the capped accounts.

And if that's not the case, the PR required to prove otherwise is just not there.
Seriously guys, is this how it's going to be whenever Afriman is out of the office? A few posts once a day with vague replies and very little public follow-up? Don't you have a social media support contingency plan or something? And I'm not even talking about the dismal telephone support yet.

I've also had notably decreasing performance since I moved from MWEB a few months ago, which is really disappointing to say the least and not something I expected. The shaping this month has been ridiculous, with windows for full speed opening up in the early hours of the morning. Now even this has stopped. Last night was the worst - pretty much nothing downloaded. I wish they'd tell everyone what's going on. They have mentioned a capacity upgrade, but I'm skeptical as to whether that extra 21% is gonna fix things.

I managed to download a whopping 700MB in that 6 hour period last night.

it's beyond pathetic and unacceptable that customers need to rely on unrelated 3rd party websites for their ISP support.

today, i eventually got a reply to an email sent over a month back

Indeed, that is what it has become. I'm ashamed that I pay this much for what I get. Hence after 4 years looking for another ISP.
 
Like I said, an expensive browsing account, accept that I'm struggling to browse as well.

4Mbps line.

Are we being throttled or is there an international issue?
Anybody else experiencing this?

I just got shaped at maximum for 24 hours with NO easing up from 18% Download / 6.25% P2P, it is now 05:16 AM. AfriRep please send cancellation method to move from Afrihost, this is F**king B******t! Get your act together, AH went from hero to zero in 3 months, what a shame, but i cant pay for this and will be looking at claiming back via CPA

We did see some issues with shaping last night, really sorry about that :( Our team have already attended to this, shaping should ease later on tonight.
 
Is it me - or is Afrirep a part timer?
I note that the Cableguy / Mr.Beep / MWEBguy are active all the time, but Afrirep seems to be the only person at Afrihost ..... Is Gian Visser trying to be all things or too tight to employ good all hours reps?

I think I've covered this a lot lately, AfriMan is on leave - coming back a little later this week. While we try to cover everything, all the time, it's not always possible.

First point - ''the account is working as intended'' ..... by Ah, not the customer :cry:
Sounds a bit like Derek.H. justifying why a capped ''uncapped'' account is good for you??

Second point - Agree - they have pushed me to the business account, and getting there wasnt easy - Last night the CZ gave me an error but the change went through. I will run the business account and feedback accordingly. My concern being that if we all become businesses, how will this effect the business accounts?

From my point of view, as someone who has been keeping an eye on AH for the past few months - If AH kept their promise of extra assitance and increased capacity - things would really turn for them.
 
Screw this. Ive been contacting support whole day trying to upgrade to the business accounts. The client zone is stuffed cant upgrade via it.
