Some of these streaming sites I see I get a max of 500kbps from them, connect to a Axxess 3GB free account or Mweb account the same site and same video pulls 4mbps. We don't throttle or block or shape any specific sights, we use packet signatures to determine the nature of the traffic. We may not be shaping the stream, but if there is contention for bandwidth, you may not be able to burst to the occasional spikes you need for high def streaming, which probably results in lag or buffering. Should be sorted when the upgrade goes live.

Try downloading the movie over night when the shaping is reduced. I usually download the streams I watch, makes it more reliable and I don't need to worry about buffering....

Schedules are easy nowadays :P try [-]showrss.info[/-] I mean perfectlylegaldownloading.com ;) Also, I use something called [-]sickbeard and couchpota.to[/-] hulu and netflix ;)

Why does it take so long to acquire additional IPC?
AH is waiting since last year and TI seems to have the same problem?
Why can't it be handled in a day or 2?
It is not something that is manufactured.
I understand the ISP's order it from Telkom, but what then?

I can't find the original MyBB article where I read this, but it's replicated here on this link:

Basically, it's a complex waiting game. Ordering too early can make you price uncompetitive, while ordering too late can make service terrible for your clients. Most ISPs on our tier experience this, as per the article.

When you have an unusually long lead time like this (we're close on 6 months where previously 6 weeks to 3 months was the longest we'd experienced) it just compounds the issues which led to wanting upgrade in the first place - and unfortunately there are very few options open to us in the meantime to implement in the interim.

I have read the article, but I'm still not sure why it is an issue.
AH already have applied for additional capacity. You have taken the risk. Why does it take 6 months+ for it to get delivered?

I remember AfriMan mentioned something about a certain group IPC port's which had to be delivered were delayed, which means the IPC didn't actually have the capacity to give to Afrihost? Something like that

That's totally in Telkom's hands. Remember the IPC is still Telkom's hardware. Think about it like your phone line. It's house/property but they own the line coming in and all the hardware.

So the IPC is Telkom's hardware (just lives inside out Data Centre) and they own that equipment and everything leading up to it. So even if we could, we are not allowed to touch the IPC, plug in or unplug even the tiniest wires. It's totally in their hands when they deliver and activate the hardware.

So is it a hardware issue?
Telkom need to install physical hardware to add capacity?

I apologise if these questions seem stupid.

This is what I did not understand. I thought additional capacity meant additional bandwidth and could not understand why it would it take more than a day ir two to aquire it.

Very random, some evenings youtube will just get stuck while loading a video, a refresh fixes the issue. Other sites is also random, then it streams ok, then it buffers a bit and later on it will buffer and play the whole time. Everything 360p, never HD.

No, that part is easy. Is the realtime capacity to manage traffic that basically requires more IPC - like widening the roads on the highway. It's not about how many cars, it's how many cars at once.
