Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Additional IPC capacity is a red herring. I waited until the last portion of IPC capacity to come on board, and my uncapped service performed well, then that additional capacity was consumed by AH's oversubscription by new customers. Same thing will happen this time. Few days of bliss, then back to oversubscribed.

I don;t think so - remember that we only received partial delivery of our ordered capacity, and that was only a few weeks into the Telkom line upgrades, which I think has played a huge part in the upsurge in demand.

Capacity will always be a fluid thing. We'll never have the same number of clients today as we did yesterday, clients upgrading and downgrading lines all the time. Telkom are rolling out VDSL and other technologies (like FTTH) which is always going to have an effect on demand. So yes, there will be a time when we'll need more capacity, but we'll also get better at forecasting and putting contingencies in place to manage the periods in between upgrades better, in a way that is effective and cost effective. I know we have some plans to do this, which should hopefully be implemented well before we are in need of another upgrade.

I don't think we're shafting anyone - it's a pretty unpleasant accusation to make :(

Have you seen the service your uncapped clients have been receiving for the past 4 - 5 months? That is a long time to have rubbish service, I think being shafted is putting it lightly

I've seen the issues posted here on MyBB, but that is a very small percentage of our overall Uncapped client base. And that is also mainly clients in the South, where other regions have had better performance, with some shaping (which is a necessary part of an Uncapped service).

But also, shafting says that we're intentionally ripping people off - for profit or amusement. I don't believe that is the case. We're doing everything possible to push through upgrades we ordered almost six month ago, long before capacity issues were raised here on MyBB.

How about giving me a voucher or something? Some form of compensation for deciding to reside in the South and hence being affected negatively for nearly half a year but still paying you my hard earned money?

This is always a debate. Some people say 12PM is midnight, some people say it's midday. Some people say the correct way is the correct way. Other's say that what people understand to be correct is the "more correct" way.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't :(

PS,

With that logic, is Noon ever referred to as 12am?

Now that could work :)

People who say that 12PM is midnight are just plain wrong :p

You cannot change facts. 24-hour format works much better though :D

They're probably entitled to think so, but trust me, 12PM never ever can be midnight. It just can't, by any standard convention anywhere :P

12AM, 24h00, 24:00, 0h00, 0:00 - use one of those and you're home safe.

(/pedantic moment)

Huge improvement tonight. Web sites load in 2 seconds, seems like buffer is a thing of the past on videos, looking VERY good. :D
