Experiencing very bad international through put. Internet is quite slow. This being on a weekend.

Cape Town Region

I've run some tests on my side on international speeds and so far all seems to be normal. Will keep testing and gathering info on this.

The internet is crawling in Cape Town. Luckily I've been out enjoying the sunshine for most of the day. This is VERY frustrating, can't even stream at 360p on 10mb line :/

Really sorry about the frustration you're experiencing. I know that it can't be lekker - but I promise we're doing everything we can on our side to improve your experience while we wait for the upgrade to our IPC.

Internet seems alright for me, but shaping is on 12.5/6.25% so no downloading for me. I am sownloading the new AMD catalist driver, 25 min for 300 MB on a 10 Mb line ...

I know the current shaping is pretty awful for regions is high demand. Once our capacity upgrades arrive - I do believe that many clients experience little to no shaping again.

What's the DSL line rental for 4megs? ( through Telkom?)

Anybody else having issues with the Tweak my line feature? I have tried 4 times now.

Seems like there are some weird things on the Telkom portal at the moment - having some issues doing port resets as well. Hopefully Telkom are addressing it - but some exchanges are not reachable through the portal.

Check all your phones/alarm have POTS filters on :)

Unfiltered devices cause issues with fix my line :(

Z

Sometimes the exchange reports an error - especially if you're running the feature from the line concerned.

Doesn't always mean the feature failed.

too many issues....my loyalty is broken....15kb/s on a 4mbps line.

moved to webafrica over the weekend....380kb/s....I'm a happy guy :)

Goodbye Afrihost. Its been real.

Sorry that we've let you down like this. I really wish you the best going forward - maybe we'll see you again in the future when things have settled on our side :(

Remember that Telkom are one of the few companies who still pay overtime at 2x (1.5x?) rate, so often I have found the technicians are more than willing to work overtime. I've actually had instances where the technician has said he would prefer to come over the weekend because it means he makes more, and it is easier time wise because I am at home. So it could be possible that they do do it over the public holiday. I imagine someone who has such a valuable skill that there are only a tiny number of them in the country probably earns a decent salary that working overtime is worth their while.

I'm sure that at the expert level we're talking about, this wouldn't influence Telkom's decision and scheduling. But I don't doubt that if the IPC is ready to go in, Telkom can make their team available if they need them on a weekend or holiday.

Serious ping issues in Vredehoek, Cape Town.

Your 2nd hop latency looks pretty bad - that could be due to a number of reasons. The next test should be to repeat the test on another network - like connecting with guest@telkomadsl (password guest) and trace to saix.net or telkom.co.za
