I have PM you my IP adress from Afrihost.

Thanx for your help so far.

Chris

Those pings are looking great, and those downloads are right for a 4Mbps account! Much better than those OW results :/

I think you may have in intermittent case of exchange congestion :( What are the errors you are experiencing? You say you have a 2Mbps account, but it looks like you are syncing at 4Mbps?

Take note of this Open web post.
Seems there are some heavy shaping going on.
Not sure about there shaping policies and which services would be affected.

Hi

No, I have a 4meg by Afrihost.

My webpages takes ages to open up. I have moved over to Explorer, used Chrome before. Will run it for today and see. At least Explorer opens up Mybroadband web site fast.

1st time I've used over 100GB in a long time and now shaped at 75%... damn blizzard and steam for patches and more than one machine to update..... don't mind the slow d/l but the ping of over 500ms is killer... honestly do not understand how there are bandwidth hogs ou there when my trivial amount causes my speed to slow dramatically

Ping over 500 is definitely not caused by shaping :/

Please see above message :)

4Mbps,EC

Shaping policy Http = 75% and P2P 75%
Shaping must been activate close to 11:30 I think.
Shaping seems to work better than before the IPC upgrade.
Previously I got less than the projected shaping speed.

I just tested with a Nvidia driver (Http) and downloaded at about 324KB/s
which was inline with my speedtest.
3410kbps /8 = 426.25KB/s * 75% shaping = 319.68KB/s
Then fired up some streaming and line maxed out at about 426KB/s

So all seems to be working fine so far, before the work week starts.

I rated AH 2/10 before the IPC capacity.
My rating for the Home account since the partial IPC upgrade is 7/10.

My reasons for not rating higher is that there have been shaping over the weekend, although it was light at 75% and it did not last long and it is a shaped account afterall.
Browsing is not snappy. It is not dead slow, but feels a bit lazy.
Although I get full speeds on download, it takes a while to get there, ie it can take up to 3 minutes for downloads to reach their maximum download speed.
Other ISP accounts snap to the max speeds within 10 seconds.

All in all I'm happy with my account atm.
I just don't think it will last, unless the full IPC upgrade come within the next 2 - 4 weeks.
If it takes longer than that, I have a feeling we will be back to the dreaded 18.8% 6.325% shaping.

Hope I'm wrong and that the IPC comes early or bar that, that I'm wrong about the 18.8% shaping prediction.

Edit:
Just to add:
Streaming of YouTube videos via pc and Playstation was good.
Streaming of Supersport via PC was good.
I do not have Netflix or Hula, etc subscriptions.
Gaming on Playstations were good.

Update:
Youtube streaming seems to have taken a nosedive with HD videos.

Speeds have been fine since the IPC upgrade - much improved. Torrents have been going at around 150kB/s on my 2MB line. No shaping, since I had only used about 10GB the entire month. I've now used just under 50GB (which isn't a lot at all) and suddenly I've noticed the torrents going at the "usual" 5kB/s. Checked ClientZone and... 25% Download/ 6.5% P2P. Wow, Afrihost. That was really short-lived.

So much for the IPC upgrade. I think the good speeds over the weekend were due to the holidays rather than any upgrades.

Jip just checked mine as well

Went South.PNG

Okay my score for AH for the weekend just dropped from 7/10 to 4/10.
