Lol - it's funny how we always assume we are being "done in by" with our ISP's when there is some kinda hiccup. This just display's how "on edge" and sensitive we are with SA ISP's because we are so used to things going wrong, because it happens A LOT, which possess's us to adopt a "good offence is a good defense" strategy.
Case in point:
I've always had a 4mb line with no option of 10mb.
Since the line speed adjustments, I've been waiting for the dust to settle before I phoned 10210 to "downgrade" my line from "fastest" to "faster" profile, but because of all the kuk that TI is going through with their own problems, the 10210 "cancellations" department is a no go at the moment, I decided to adopt a different strategy during April.
Basically, I decided to do the following:
To avoid phoning 10210 and pushing buttons to get to "cancellations" (up to an hour on hold apparently (only "cancellations" I must add)), and seeing that I used to have my line with AH and was a painless simple exercise when I transferred it the first time, I decided to do it again. Alas, when I tried, I kept getting an error saying my line already exists (even though it's been back at Telkom for more than a year), yes, I could have taken it further and contacted a human in support, but this goes against my philosophy with ISP's (I don't want to deal with humans as humans make mistakes, and when one looks at the support that's offered these days, a lot of mistakes) so I opted for plan B which was WA (as I've also got an active clientzone account there).
Luckily this went through without any issues.
It's been two months now, but the other day I get an email saying I owe 2 months worth, and immediately blamed their billing department, but upon further investigatiojn, found out that they can't process cheque cards, so I have updated my deets to a proper CC, and made an internet transfer.
