Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Hi Afriman,

Every weekend for the last month or so I've been struggling with major slowdown on my 2Mb uncapped with Afrihost (afrihost also manages my Telkom line). Sometimes during the week as well.

This might be DSLAM / exchange issues though, are there any tests I can do to give you the necessary information to maybe check this?

I have run Zertop's line testing tool which shows some major packet loss:

Zertop's "Is it my Line" Results
Basic Report:

Your average ping was 73ms
Your maximum ping was 94ms

Looking at your average ping, your line seems to be a bit dodgy :/ This may account for any slow speeds you may be experiencing. However, it could just be related to a high-latency home network (ie... Wi-Fi). If you feel the need, please post the results (at the end of the program) into the forum for advice

On a sidenote, I haven't been able to recreate my ADSL port this whole weekend, it keeps timing out on the Afrihost webpage.

Kind regards,

Happened to me on mweb years ago, me in Pretoria East having issues, friend in Centurion no issues.

Still dead in Stellenbosch. Worst experience (as always_ with afrihost support doing absolutely nothing.

Morning everyone!

Just going through all the posts over the weekend - should be caught up soon.

If I miss your thread post - please PM me so I can make sure you get the assistance you need :)

I dont know if anyone has asked but when is afrihost going to offer fibre services?

Don't see this happening in the near future, but probably will I guess when fibre accessibility is more common.

Since yesterday I've been having problems connecting to various sites - the problem is intermittent, still online but flaky. JHB area. anyone seeing anything similar? example: right now i can't get to http://www.prosoundweb.com

I could connect to that site, but it seems very slow. Could have been load on the server or a hosting problem :(
