Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Have to give credit to Afrihost and Telkom. I was getting horrible speeds on my line and pings of over 1500ms this weekend. I logged a support ticket through the client zone and within an hour the support tech had gone through all the tests and logged a call with Telkom. Today the Telkom tech came and sorted out the issue at the exchange. Nice to see that Afrihosts support service is good and even Telkoms. :)

Looks like we have some authentication problems at the moment, we're waiting for updates from our team working with MTN on this.

Sincerely apologise to those clients battling to connect. We'll post updated on the website as we get more info :(

Any one getting increased latency to LoL? I'm getting 60 more ms than usual.

Edit: now 70

Somethings gone pear shaped. NNTP was going at 800kB per sec but d3 latency was over 400ms

Thanks for the update. Was raging becos I saw no1 else complaining and thought it was just me. If anybody knows where the hell account details are in the dlink 2640u router settings are, or how to change them without the router cd please let me know.

Can you not access it on 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.2 in your web browser?

I meant the adsl account details. The only way I kniw is you have to backup the router settings and check the config file, but it encrypts the password so u have no idea if its right. And the only way to change the account is with the router setup cd which I seem to have lost and for some reason if the configured account in the router doesn't authenticate u can't dial a ppoe connection.

Aaah hahaha, sorry for misunderstanding :P

Are you looking for your afrihost adsl account details? If so - just visit clientzone, go to your uncapped account and click the "Access Details" button :)

Also be aware that there are currently authentication issues - so your account won't authenticate until this is fixed.

I know wat the details are but no idea if the router is using the correct ones and there is no way to change them without the setup cd (that I know of)

You should be able to log onto the web interface, then to advanced setup - then edit the wan interface and make sure the correct details are used :)

Ahhh there it is, thanks. One more thing, any idea how I can get a dial up connection working when the router account can't authenticate. It works fine when the account configured in the router is connected but can't when it isn't.

You mean connecting via a pc through the router :) You should have an option to enable PPPOE Pass-through within the same advanced wan interface settings, and then create a connection through your networking and sharing centre.

The only option i see is the "Bridge PPPOE Frames between WAN and Local Ports" which is already enabled. My pc is connected via ethernet and everything works fine without needing to dial up so it just uses the router account, i can dialup another account but only when the router account is authenticated.
