Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

I have tried my capped Afrohost account as well as my capped WebAfrica account. My WebAfrica account runs perfectly with 185-195ms in-game latency. My capped Afrihost account however, stays around 270-300ms and spikes to 400+ every few mins. My Afrihost Uncapped 1mb account is unplayable when @ 12.5% shaping. Even @ 25% shaping it gets a bit spikey at times.

Myself and sinbad have provided a fair amount of proof that Diablo 3 is in fact being negatively impacted my p2p shaping... For me its much worse due to my uncapped account only being 1mb. Something is not working as intended on your network but all we get from you guys is that we're wrong...

I'm sure our team have run some tests on this, but lets maybe run a few more to see if we can narrow down the issue.
Drop me a PM with as much info as possible. Your account type, a few traceroutes, game server etc etc

I'll pass it onto our guys to see if we can replicate anything on our end :)

If p2p streams are being shaped to a very low number, realtime services should still work at best possible speed, correct? Even if you are maxing out the capacity allocated to P2p? Or does the nature of the traffic on your line result in all your traffic being limited to that speed? (ie, he's downloading stuff, so restrict his account to 25KB/sec)

Again, we analyse the packet signature so it's literally the nature of the traffic that determines whether it is shaped or not. To my knowledge Diablo does not use P2P elements, so I think we're looking in wrong place here :(

Nope. Obviously it's a false positive and I think it started when the expansion was released. Maybe something changed in the protocol?

I don't think there's anything obvious here :)
Checkout my post [#4361] so we can run some solid tests and walk away with a conclusive answer.

That's odd.
Is Youtube buffering for you? Could just be that's all the bandwidth Youtube needs for the quality you're watching it in.

Let's give it some time to settle in and for our team to make all the adjustments. There's always a bit of tuning and tweaking that goes into pushing new capacity out :)

You guys did a traffic analysis on my account a few weeks ago... Detected "torrents" while i was playing Diablo 3 during your testing as requested... I havent used a torrent in 4+ years... (sftp from my box or use nntp for downloads)

Soooo....

I sent you a packet dump. That should have everything you need.
It's obvious when you experience it.

Can you apply a custom shaping profile to my account for testing purposes? For say an hour set me to 1 percent, or 12 percent but change the account itself to 1 meg? Then we can see if the Diablo traffic exceeds the shaping limit

Yes it's buffering. Will not go higher than 2mbit. I put it on 720p and it just sits at 2mbit usage. Then I try a steam download. Full 3.6mbit down.

Yeah, lets hope they can, so they can have more definitive proof on this.

Left half is my capped account, right half(5:00+) is my 1meg uncapped account. (the lull @ 4:10 is me swapping accounts ofc)

Taken while playing Diablo 3.

Pretty clear the right half doesn't go past ~10kB/s, while the left side does what it wants, unhindered.

Phoned in this morning and spoke to tech, re-synched the line and the speed is great thus far, thanks though...
 
Ye so I tried my free 1GB. It run's at full speed straight away on Youtube. My uncapped that's mean't to have 100% real time is just buffering at half speed. Fix this please.
