Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

A good thing that has come out of your feedback from our Leaderboard (which may not have been the intention) is that we did not intend for QoS to adversely affect HTTP downloads, especially when it comes to downloading vital stuff on this protocol. So thanks for the feedback, I know you guys have mentioned this, and at least now we can get this changed. We'll be allocating much higher priority on this protocol, so it should improve the overall uncapped experience.

The change should go live in a couple of days, after some testing, etc, and then let's hope it keeps running smoothly until our new IPC goes live. Still hoping to get an ETA on this before the end of the week, and will let you all know as soon as I do :)

Speedtest craps out half way - as in just about STOPS. Flies at 8Mb/sec, then almost stops.
Are you applying QoS to flows over a certain size regardless of protocol/port?

Nitpicky I know, but since when does an ISP get to decide what is vital stuff? An ISP is there to provide a pipe for us to download whatever we want to download, making rules about what is considered important is the province of governments and churches. How did we come to allow this type of thought process to be accepted. Letting this continue creates a stick from them to beat us with.

If you want open access then get a Unshaped and Un-throttled account, that is why you pay a premium price for that level of service.

All other types of internet accounts are "managed" in one or other form.

Well Download speeds are picking up now its past 7, getting just over half linespeed on all downloads, so at least they are opening up what they can when it becomes available i guess? :)
 
NZBs are still running at 7Kb/s but my Android rom just downloaded at 119Kb/s which is line speed. It is a start in the right direction. I could theoretical live with the following scenario untill the new IPC kicks in. Http up to 100% 24/7 , NZBs Torrents etc down to 25% line speed during 8am and 6pm and then stepped up till 100% between midnight and 6am. 100% over weekends.
 
Some positive news, my speeds have doubled since yesterday, now up to 14kB/s on my 1mb :P
 
1Meg line + Ubuntu updates happening at 115kb :) fastest downloads ive had this week
 
My Steam downloads go at full 2Mbps speeds, HTTP downloads going at a great 16KB/s.

Moving to MWEB until this gets sorted out is starting to look better and better, even if I do pay R100 per month.
