Wifey and me waited for so long, now we'll wait a bit longer, until the latest GoT season is completely aired in US. And then we get the whole season in one from a well-known torrent site and watch it all in one go.

Whatever happened early morning today was great. Speed has been rocking ever since. Hope it stays like that but I'm already starting to see ping fluctuations :(
 
Very interesting ........I mumbled about the "shaping policy" on the client zone about it not working stuck on 5%, well I get the impression we have a spy in our midsts who reads here doesn't say a word and acts .......... in my case to my detriment. I am still waiting for Afriman to answer my question Re 5% he must have taken the day off. BUT 4am 5% shaping all fine, Then I mumbled here about the 5%text on client zone not working and boom! No shaping text in the morning. My NNTP download drops to 14KB/s with a 5% shaping, it is now showing 25% shaping and my nntp download is at 50KB/s on a 2Mb/s line/package. I still don't know what the 5% means.
 
We've managed to get a temporary restoral link up on EASSy, so international bandwdith should improve greatly. It also means that shaping will be a lot lighter, as we now have more capacity to play with and we can take the brakes off to some extent.

With the much reduced demand over the holidays, most people (except perhaps heavy users) should be experiencing lighter shaping than they have in the last week or so. Just remember that slow download speeds (like on speedtest) is not shaping. It only applies if it's a torrent or P2P link - which you can then check against your clientzone. If you're getting slow speedtests, then we need to troubleshoot at those should be optimal at all times, as per how our QoS works.

I did reply to your post, may have been indirectly. No-one can be permanently in the 5% shaping group, unless you've moved terrabytes of data. And even then, when there's no-one on the network you should at least get some lighter shaping. If you drop me a PM, I can look into this and verify if this is the case, or if you have changed policies (perhaps in later hours) that you may not have noticed.

Haha, we'll be waiting to watch GoT too! We have a small fan group in the brand team - though predictably the female component of our team only watch because apparently Jon Snow is "hot"
